Just came across this:

Anyone have any experience with this?  For $7.99, hard to go wrong.  Hooking it up to X1A now...

OMG ... more things in the fragile chain and that have to be kept updated (I mean the s/w devs and Cake) ...

Hmmm.. My DAW is connected to the wireless router, which connects to the iPad.  I don't see the iPad in the client directory in rtpMIDI.  Gunnar, do you have a similar setup and, if so, how did you get it to appear?

Thanks,
Mike

How is it connected to your DAW? WiFi to a router then network cable to your DAW? No dropout issues?

WiFi in a DAW is notorious for dropouts.  While that gadget certainly "looks cool", I'd be quite skeptical that it can keep things smooth running in a DAW.

I would love to be proven wrong, though.

(And I don't mean "light" use of the DAW).

that's why I asked about the WiFi but if its WiFi to the router and then just a cat 5 into the DAW it may not be so bad.

My hardwired network connection never interferes with my DAW. I've accidently forgotten to disable it at times and didn't realize until later. I mean folks use multi PO setups to farm out DSP processing and that works OK.

Hardwired setups don't do status checks the same way as WiFi.  It's just hard for me to imagine WiFi not being a problem to some degree, and even if it's only minor, that would stop me from using such a device.

But for $7.99, it's certainly worth a look, me thinks.  I've spilled more than that at Happy Hour.  Now, if I can just get the software to see my iPad...
