But for $7.99, it's certainly worth a look, me thinks.  I've spilled more than that at Happy Hour.  Now, if I can just get the software to see my iPad...

Heh, well, first I'd have to get an iPAD, which I'm not rushing out to do.  So far it's not tuggin' at me ;)

Got it working.  Going to stress test it a bit over the next few days, but I haven't seen anything surprising yet.  Everything seems, at first glance, to work as advertised.  Pretty amazing.  And nope, I have no business relationship with them.

No, Dave - but I have a friend who ripped his iPAD already ;)

your pc has to install a server client plus I think something like LoopBe as a midi bridge . Its discussed on GS, KVR, etc and used with other daws

SUPPOSEDLY it has acceptable latency ...

im glad you could get ti to work I never could

I think the secret was the installation of a Port Forward in my router, as referenced in the rtpMIDI developer's notes (which I had to google to find).  No other servers needed.  I'm finding the functionality amazing, considering the price.  It's wrapped around a Mackie interface, and has dedicated Sonar buttons (it says, though I haven't checked them all out yet).  More or less full control of 8 tracks, plus eight more if you have a second iPad.  Or via bank switching, of course.  Kewl...

I just followed the exact steps on this side: http://saitarasoftware.com/Site/AC-7_Core_setup.html
On Windows:

Install the rtpMIDI driver. (downloaded from here : rtpMIDI_1_0_6_218_saitara.zip)

You will be directed to install Bonjour for Windows if you don’t already have it.

    Run the rtpMIDI app.

Add a new session by clicking the plus sign, rename it and activate it by clicking the checkbox.

Make sure you set the option "who may connect to me" to either "anyone" or "only computers in my

    directory".

Now start the AC-7 Core app on the iPad, and make sure it's in the mode you want to use.

Your iPad's name will now appear in the Directory.

Click your iPad's name then click the connect button.

Your iPad's name will now appear in the Participants section.

You can now close the rtpMIDI window.

    That's it. You're connected.

My Daw is contected with wire to a router (the router is connected to the "Fiber box" and this box also got the WiFi.

Thanks, Gunnar.  I did that initially, and didn't see my iPad in the Directory.  After installing a port forward (software option) in the router, my iPad finally showed up.  Not sure if it was coincidence, the result of a deliberate act, or blind luck.  But, on the other hand, I can say that about many of my successes...

I'd like to see a Windows Phone 7 app to control the Sonar transport.
Thinking about making one if there's a demand for it.
Would be useful for vocal sessions since WP7 already has auto-scrolling lyric support.
