For those that want to see these things working in real time - go to the Presonus website and check out some of their videos showing a DAW being controlled by an iPad and inturn controlling the StudioLive mixer in a live situation. All they do is add a wireless router to the laptop and the Mixer to the laptop. Latency is very good and the working range is absolutley great. Obviously there are some drivers and software included to make the magic but it looks very clean and doable.

I have been so impressed with the 24.4.2 mixer that I have ordered one which arrived yesterday. I don't imagine it will be long before I get an iPad but for the moment I will be working on making my iPhone work with this setup.

I gave up on this app working. If you have an iPad 2 don't spend your money until they update it or decide to actually support the product.

Start the rptMidi program , start SONAR, create a Control Surface, then start AC-7Core mini on the iPhone. Works like a charm. Just have toi work oout what controls what but it's excellent so far. Doesn't annoy SONAR at all even though my laptop is using WiFi.

I first had difficulty getting it all to work but I perservered and got it happening. All my concerns were really user error.

It's not user error and I am using an iPad 2, not an iphone.  The app needs an update.  I use rtpMIDI with 4 other apps without major problems.

I'm using AC-7 core mini on iPhone 4 - I'm trying to figure out exactly what we can control with this app. Can it save, undo, add markers etc.? Any help would be much appreciated.

Your best bet is to use a project with a changed name and just go trial and error. There is no support for these apps.

As a confirmed Apple-hater it took a really good reason for me to buy an iPad, but I'm using AC-7 Core too. It works seamlessly in Sonar by emulating a Mackie control surface. You have to have both the unit and the DAW connected to your wifi.

The best use I've had for it so far is when I'm recording and can't be arsed to walk over to press the spacebar.  I wouldn't use it for mixing.  The Omnisphere app for the ipad is pretty cool as well.

I just got the iPad and Sonar working together. I needed to update to the latest Sonar fix as some of the AC 7 functions werent working. I now have it talking flawlessly using a wifi connection ad hoc computer to computer so there is very little latency and no need to have my recording rig connected to the internet.  This is so cool

My experience thus far:

I have the Mackie control surface "connecting" issue between my desktop PC (Win7 64 bit) running Sonar X1 Producer (X1c) and AC-7 running on my iPad2.  rtpMIDI works as advertised and absolutely is not the problem.  AC-7 Core (running on iPad2) is also not the problem for sure.  In troubleshooting this !@#$% problem, I decided to install SOnar X1 and rtpMIDI on my laptop (Win 7 64 bit) and see if that worked.  It did without any issues.  Start up rtpMIDI, start up AC-7 and rtpMIDI connects.  Then start up X1, start a new project, and hit reset on the AC-7 and instant connection.  This means AC-7's OK, my network is OK, and rtpMIDI is OK.  It must be some obscure setting in Sonar.  I believe that it cannot be any sort of network/security/firewall issue because rtpMIDI connects fine.  I can't believe it's a Windows 7 issue because I have the same OS on both platforms.  I'm gonna dig a little deeper here, but if any of you guys have found the silver bullet, please post up here so I can stop pulling what little hair I have left out!
