Mudgel, thanks for your comments.  I may go ahead and begin some testing with 64 bit Sonar.

GT, how do you like Trilian?  I have the old Trilogy.

64bit is the future. Step into it!

I would only recomend going 64 bit with a new computer. Alot less headaches. If you are getting a new computer, the I highly recommend going 64 bit Win7 and 64 bit X1. I have 12 gigs of ram, and have X1 (and 8.5) is very stable. The occasional crash, but for the most part it's great. You won't look back. I run everything in 64 bit, at 24/96 and I'm loving it. If you have an older computer, I would wait on upgrading to 64 bit.

I bought the upgrade from Trilogy a while back waiting for my new PC because my old one was getting short on disc space, and to be honest I was happy with Trilogy.  I finally installed Trilian a week ago on my new PC.  Trilian is one of those truly stunning plug-ins.  It is a vast improvement over Trilogy.  I've already swapped it in on about a dozen projects that had Trilogy on it.

If you have the disc space you should might want to consider the upgrade.

32bit every time I personally find 64bit Sonar x1 to be to problematic. There are far to many problems with the vst's & plugins as well as the fact that you can't use some of the 32bit effects that are fantastic effects to use.

Taking odds on the post number for Freddie's first post in this thread?  Over 50 and under 100 is my guess.  the actual post number I'm going with is 64  (get it!!!!!)   Seems like a lucky number in this instance.

Fully 64 bit here and absolutely loving it!

My CPU readouts (12 virtual cores) barely flicker even with the most intensive project running.

When my new DAW was delivered a couple of weeks ago I took  the conscious decision to NOT install any 32 bit only plugs and to be really brutal about the plugs I did install.

No going back now, 32 bit is SO last century.

Excuse my denseness, but is there a way to select which version you install? I seem to have the 64 bit version, but would like the 32 bit, as it's apparent that I can only run Dreamstation (need those basslines as is) on 32. Please help.

what are the advantages of us Sonar 64bit?

Being able to use more than 4GB RAM if your system has it.
