Hi Kenny!
This is super cool sounding! I noticed a little timing issue near the beginning, maybe from the drums. Did you use a guitar synth for all of the parts?

Hey Kenny. Sorry I don't have anything to add, just wanted to say I really enjoyed listening to this. Well, I guess I could add how amazing it is that one as accomplished as you is, yet, still setting new goals, and going for it. That's inspiring. Thanks for including us in this new journey!   Jim

Hello Jim , thank you for giving this a listen . I appreciate the kind words

Ya, the mix to me also sounded close, I thought I heard a chord at 2:04 I was not sure of, and later on around 3:55 not sure something there, but then again I really doubt if I comprehended it all just listening to it.
In fact I know I did not.
Quite a piece of work.

on the both sections that you mentioned I 'm just playing a simple minor chord w a suspended 4 th as a passing tone ….this happens to be very common harmonically
as far as this mix goes ….I did put a lot of time into it , yet I feel it is only a work / evall  mix ...
very rarely will i use spacial effects until it's pretty close to the end of the project …that could be some time from now

thank you

Kenny, this one definitely deserves some long-term love, even if it means periodically putting it on the back burner to simmer awhile. I can picture this becoming a 20-minute opus in 3 or 4 movements.

I really appreciate a song that keeps changing it up and introducing new textures as it builds, and throwing in unexpected points of interest along the way. Great potential in this piece!

thank you bitflipper
this song has been on and off the back burner for a number of months ….
Yes , I did put a lot of my heart and soul into this music and I feel pretty happy about the potential showing through a bit ….
thank you for the kind words

Listening to the tune right now. I think it is fantastic. Lots of good melodic ideas, excellent arraignment outstanding playing as usual. Nice stuff amigo. The melodic and chordal changes are great. Nice ideas.

Well done

Hi Scotty ,
thank you for giving my music a listen
on the first section of the song almost all the midi was played be me on my midi guitar ….
vox, strings, glock , and many of the various other supporting parts...
with that I mixed a lot of audio that I played on various instruments…gtr , bass,…..
the drums, organ and the harp were midi 's that i edited and dropped in to the project … and rendered .

the second part of the song , I used a real harp in a few places via a local harpist...
a good deal of the second section of the song involves using material i did not play on my midi guitar or analog guitar or instruments that I have and play for that matter...
some of those parts were stuff like the organ , drums, piano , a lot of the strings , harp…
I wish I could play those instruments like that , most of all those musical parts fit what I was looking to express musically  …some I edited , some I didn't….
a great deal of those sounds took a lot of work to get them to sound the way they do ...

all the best ,

Kenny

Hi Timothy ,
my song still needs some TLC …...so far it's not to bad for an old long haired blues guitar player
I hope to get better at playing and writing this type of music  …thank you for the listen and kind comment

all the best ,

I think it's pretty much all been said.... interesting departure from what you normally do.....

It's always good to play with new things, to kinda break out of the boxes we construct around ourselves, from time to time.

Super creative and interesting piece.  Kind of sounds like an overture.

The choir patch is definitely the weak link IMO.  The guitars and strings (and other orchestral sounds) are pro or almost pro.  An investment in a better choir patch would really notch this up by a lot I'm pretty sure.

I really enjoyed this.

Peace,

Ian

Hi Herb , very true , it is an interesting departure from what I normally do
I would like to get back to what I do at some point ….it seems I'm Lost at the moment

thank you

Hi Ian,

I'm pleased you looked past some of my songs shortcomings and found things about my music to enjoy

Yes I agree with you that my choir is definitely weak ……
I'm happy that it started out as an OK placeholder to at least get my songs vibe started ,

…..most of the sounds I have on this song I had to roll on my own …

on the plus side , by doing that I can say that i have learned a lot ...

I had to do it that way because I don't have any of the popular sample players such as Kontack or any of the mid to high end sample libraries

to tell you the truth …
this song put me up against a brick wall and I have to figure out a way to climb over it
since it might take me a while to acquire some of the better sounding tools that a lot of people use
I'll be  doing my best to build a ladder to climb over that wall ..
my short term goal is to get a lot better at rolling my own sounds …

thank you for the song listen , and your honest critique

Kenny
