The Maillard Reaction
The lyrics, melody, song structure, and the arrangement of the instruments seem super!

I think I'd enjoy one of the vocals to be forward of the other.

best regards,
mike

Thanks, Mike. I for some reason tend to 'think' of or imagine my vocals as two-part harmonies, and so i always end up mixing them like that. The lower vox is the definite melody.

Cool song! I like the beats you picked. The vocals are well recorded. There seems to be something going on with that harmony though. The blend isn't  happening entirely. The vox are noticably flat in places.  I could almost hear the song with harmony in places ( like the chorus) and just one single vocal in other places. You have a nice enough voice that you could pull that off. Good luck with it...great start!

Though this song has a Ben Folds Five vibe to it, it sounds fresh and original to my ears.  A few of the vocals were slightly off pitch, but not necessarily enough to corrects them.  I know what you mean about a two part harmony, but some of the most famous duets in history had one part louder than the other, which gives a feeling of depth.  This might be all you need to adjust for that perfect quirkiness.  All in all, this works for me.  Congrats!

Nice mix! Agree with Lynn completely, although a subtle use of Melodyne in places couldn't hurt.

Thanks for looking, guys! I executed bringing the main melody forward which in fact helped a LOT with showing which vox should be ruling the mix, and then I snapped pitches in place and I realized that THAT is the thing that was bugging me about this song! Thanks, guys! I may not post a new build of that one, but it'll be coming out soon.
I am considering making solo vocals at sme points, but I wouldn't know quite where..

Glad you guys like this one!

Vocal solos make the harmonies so much more present sometimes.  It's like a build when they come in.  Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.  Its a good song.  I need to go back and follow the lyrics.  My first listen is always how the music fits.  I've tried it the other way and I just can't get lyrics first.  Mix is clear.

There is potential for the song. But have you ever thought of playing the singing part on a instrument to aid the singing in the song, especially like mentioned by others. It would not replace the singing and would not have to be loud, just a flute playing the melody perhaps or a synth part that goes along with the notes that are being sung.
It is to me that kind of a song where that would not interfere with the totality of the song in any way. Just a suggestion to get the singing tighter on the song, but otherwise nice song except for those couple of places where the singing is rough and to me needs to be worked out better.
Good job.

Nice tune, I agree with what everyone else has said. Get the vocals in tune in those couple of places and pull one back just a little and it will make it better. Everything else is fine to my ears.
