I found that duct taping secures the batteries the best and I upgraded to using 2 D-Cell batteries......WOW!!!

Why waste your time and effort on this unreliable kludge to reduce local resistance when you can just purchase an oxygen-free Cat 6 cable from Monster for just $249.95. With the batteries, you have to wait until the cable warms up to the optimum temperature, and speeds degrade as the batteries run down. 

 
Also, since the primary inductance source in any setup of this sort is due to the shorting of signals between the operators ears, to get the maximum effect it is useful to drain off that interference by inserting an approximately 18 inch length of nominal 1 inch pure copper tubing into your rectum. Some people recommend attaching the tubing to a four foot fluorescent tube using a bungee cord, but that is not only unnecessary if the tube is doing its job, it is just crazy.
