Hi, It looks like this has been discussed a bit in other posts but I was curious how people feel about the overall stability of X1 right now. I am using 8.5 Producer 64 bit, on an i7 with Win7 64bit, and I am considering the $99 X1 & X2 upgrade deal. I am sure there will be issues with X2 once released, so I wanted to get a feel of how stable the current version of X1 is for everyone. I have no issues with 8.5, but the $99 deal till 8/31 looks like it may be a good time to jump in. I am using some older, 32 bit vst's (Miroslav, JABB, SampleTank & Tracks for example) which work fine in 8.5, just want to make sure there will be no issues using them in X1 or X2. How has it been opening up and working with projects in X1, started in 8.5? Any issues bringing in and working with data created in Sibelius 7? Thanks for the information.

The only issue I have with X1 is the support for the Mackie MCU Pro.  Everything else works fine for me.

Wow, that MCU Pro is nice. Stinks it isn't working properly. I've been using the NanaKontrol.

For me X1 is pretty much as stable as 8.5 was. I say pretty much because as a lot of us experienced X1 was prone to crash often and I still haven't got over expecting it to crash again...but for a while now it has been behaving itself.

Has X1 been behaving well with 8.5? I have seen some posters who were having problems with 8.5 after installing X1. Has X1d fixed any of those issues or is it a random issue?

DFP: x-1 install'd along side 8.5 works fine and its a good time to consider the update x-2, you would want to see your chipset drivers for the OS are updated and video drivers are also updated befor you install x-1.. if you open a song from 8.5 in x-1 rename it and save it 1st befor doing any work on it...

Excellent advice. Yes I think the update to X2 makes it a great time to upgrade.

Just upgraded to X1 from 8.5 and I LOVE the new interface.... it's like Cakewalk read my mind and created an interface that makes complete sense to me.

That being said, I did run into a HUGE problem with Dimension Pro.  Probably something I did wrong, but after following the bouncing ball and upgrading to X1 and then upgrading my existing Dimension Pro (1.2) to Dimension Pro to 1.5 (64bit) any project created in 8.5 that had an instance of Dimension Pro (1.2) gives an error about not being able to find Dimension Pro and basically "greys out" the incidence it.  Shouldn't be a problem because I can just insert an instance of Dimension Pro 1.5, BUT... I never renamed the tracks with the actual name of the patch, so there is no way of knowing which patch to load in 1.5.  I've learned a lesson about renaming tracks, but right now all I can do is go back to a second computer that still has 8.5 on it with Dimension Pro 1.2, open the file and make a note of what patch I used, open the file on the X1 machine and insert new instances of Dim Pro.
Aside from that, everything else seems to be working very well.  And, again, I find that the interface has completely changed the game for me.... night and day.

Thanks, Cakewalk

What problems are you having with the MCU Pro, Mod?  I also have the MCU Pro and two Xtenders.  Every other session or so, I have to re-set the configuration of the second Xtender, but that's my only problem.  I have them set up as Xtender 1 for tracks 1-8, main unit 9-16, Xtender 2 for tracks 17-24.  There doesn't seem to be any reason for it, but often the second extender switches to tracks 1-8.

Other than that, I am finding X1 noticeably more stable than 8.5.3.  I had still been working with 8.5.3 until very recently because I still want all my screen colors, but I find it can crash after too many edits.  X1 also uses less CPU power, and I can get one step lower latency for big projects without issues.
