Yes I'd noticed that too Grem but never thought to question it.
Eco is very quick to load as is addictive drums. BFD2 is obviously a little slower I guess on account of sample pool size and velocity layers.


With regards to the Vista 64 bit debate I asked Drew-FX for his comments and this was his response

That isn't actually a bug. We don't support 64bit Vista at all, which is why the installers don't provide the option. Users *are* able to dig down through the payload and manually deploy it, but we don't support it and wont offer assistance if anything goes wrong.

I guess they would have had to make an extra installer just for vista 32 bit without the 64bit DII file but for those who found a work around it might be considered a good thing that they didn't.

I would have thought the subjects title "Ez vs Eco" might have given you a clue as to how the thread would go.

Most threads that compare one program to another will end up with people arguing the case for one or the other and so it can often become a case mine is better than yours.

As for your "kindergarten" comment I'd not noticed anything childish about this thread until your post.

Well, its been the most useful thread from my point of view as it enabled me to get 64 bit Eco working. Once that was done I even bought the Eco Evil Drums expansion.

Eco complements my Toontrack and Steven Slate stuff well.

What I'm talking about is all the posts in these threads (there are a few) trying to establish who makes the best sounding drums; toontrack or fxpansion.

What I find childish (and also; not helpful for the poster) is when people focus more on trying to dream up flaws in the one they're not using instead of just sharing what they like with the one they use (without implying this is unique for the one they use)

It's impossible for someone that haven't used both to say wich one is best (and even then it's just a personal opinion).. You can't tell from just listening to demos wich one sound better. The demos are mixed differently wich has as much to do with the sound as the raw samples have, even though the difference just may be the volume of the different mics..

If you haven't seen these posts or maybe don't find them childish, that's ok.

I know it happens and as I said, when someone is wanting comparisons between two products and they put A vs B in the subject header it's almost inevitable.
It probably happens more in drum threads too because we ALL use drums so they get far more posts.

I think it would be more helpful if you addressed those particular posts if you think people are dreaming up non existent flaws. I thought maybe you were responding to my post which I was a little offended by to be honest.

Mostly I'd say I'd agree with that but then that's why people create these, "A vs B" threads because after going on fxpansions or toontracks (or whoever's sites ) they can't decided where to spend their money.
I thought it was you who, "in another post" had advised to OP to listen to the demo's on line and "use their ears" to decide ?
As for the demo's being mixed differently that's true. I only ever listen to the demo's of the "solo'd" drums and as I've said, was impressed with the fact that fxpansion had created their kit piece page where you could hear the raw unprocessed samples of each kit piece. That IS unique.

No I have seen plenty of posts where people have said things that range from mildly to wildly inaccurate but I prefer to address those posts individually.

  Since I bought BFD Eco and BFD2 I have never looked back. I felt similar to Rain in that I wasn't sure I had the chops initially to mix raw samples but neither did I like someone else doing that part for me so I jumped in with both feet and I have to say that after getting past the learning curve which has been much less painful than I thought, I have been able to make my drums breathe.

 In one case I had another competitiors drum software loaded( a Kontakt based program) and even though the samples were smaller it pulled my cpu down. When I substituted BFD2 everything smoothed out and this was with the heavier BFD2 running in 24 bit as opposed to BFD eco. I still keep BFD ECO around and use it for some things.

 The support from Platinum Samples is a big plus. I just got an email about the Epic Drums kit.

 I tried EZ drummer several years ago and had some experiences with it that were just a pain. I know it was probably me but I had installer issues and seemed to have a difficult time with it. I didn't necessarily dump it but about that time BFD came along with a deal on eco and I grabbed it. I guess everyone can have a different experience and it's funny how one small thing or two can make a person feel less than confident in something. I'm sure EZ drummer is a great program. I just got off to a bad start with it initally and seen something else. At that point I could have kept at it with EZD but instead I decided to try BFD.Now I feel no need to go there.
