If anyone sees bobguitkiller before I do can you direct him to the drop service cliffr posted? He's talked before about how frustrating it is trying to get stuff in Australia so that would probably help him out a lot. Thanks.

Don't forget to check the Tax/Duty page at: http://www.myus.com/en/ship-to-canada/

(select your country)...  check the deminimus value...  it's different for each country... the best is Australia where you don't pay duty if it's under a 1,000AUD, New Zealand is 400NZD, Canada is 20CDN, UK is 120GBP and also VAT over 18GBP

Cheers,

That is £12.00 and not £120.00 isn't it?
So including tax it would come to £30. I think that would have made it cheaper to buy it from the fx site whilst the sale was on as they were £35 each and £50 (?) for the Z-pack.
Oh well, sales are like buses, I'm sure they'll be another one along soon.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Nope the deminimus value is the threshold where you have to pay duty... so if it's below 120GBP there's not meant to be any duty

Cheers,

BFD Eco was created for slower machines with less ram so the 64 bit thing is no big deal. It runs perfectly for me on windows 7 32 bit and has no issues with bitbridge.

To be clear though..... BFD Eco does have a 64bit version too. As does EZDrummer. About the only Drompler I own that is not (yet) 64bit is Jamstix (but there is a 64bit beta).

Yes, but the installer for the 64 bit version of ECO will not even start on 64 bit Vista, its Windows 7 only. It's probably system specific but I need JBridge for the 32 Bit ECO.

If you are not on Win 7 read the system requirments on the website carefully before you buy. If it says Win 7 required, unlike Native Instruments, FXexpansion really mean it.

The 64 bit version is in the install file. On a Vista machine you will need to manually install the 64 bit version. It can be done because the exe is a rar file.

Do your install as normal and you only get the 32 bit version. You need to open up the install file (it's a RAR container) and copy out \Installer\Payload\win64\BFD Eco.dll to your VST Plugins folder.

Good call John
I knew someone on the fx forum (either Eco or BFD 2) had posted their fix and said it worked for vista but didn't want to mention it in case I got it wrong.
had meant to search the fx forum for the thread but forgot.
Cheers

Thanks Steve. This is a huge oversight on the part of Fxpansion. It is not that BFD eco 64 bit does not run on Vista 64 system its an installer problem only.

It was simple to install it manually.

Yeah definitely a big oversight.
I'm guessing they are aware of it only they're usually pretty quick to get fixes out and this one is going to loose them business
so they should be double quick :)

Thanks. It works!

After I bought the update (without reading the small print ) I contacted FXExpansion who told me Win 7 only. It seems it works perfectly.

I guess like NI they do not see support Vista. If it works, good, if not you are on your own. Business wise Its probably not a bad move, your software is going to be more stable if you don't have to support legacy operating systems. HoweverI thought Vista was dropped pretty quickly by some.

Vista is still supported by MS. Its a viable OS that many of us use everyday. The notion that an installer wouldn't see that its a 64 bit OS but still install the 32 bit version is to me very poor programming.

Also there is very little difference between Windows 7 and Vista. I know of no other install from any other developer that has this issue.

Having no tech support is one thing but not installing is quite another. To me its lazy of them to have overlooked this. Than why install it at all? Why is the 32 bit version installed? Clearly there is some sort of disconnect with how they approach this. In a way I am a bit peeved by it.

All the NI stuff I have has no problem running under Vista. Nor does NI not install because its a 64 bit OS. It simply is not an issue.

No one has mentioned how long ezD takes to load it's samples in a 96k sample rate project. It takes so long that I have almost quit using it in favor of SD3 and then BFD Eco. They do not take nearly as long to load.

I am assuming because of the sample format that Toontrack uses. Can someone clarify this?
