Will the new Sonar be compatible with Windows 10?  I'm nervous about buying it now knowing I will definitely be upgrading to Windows 10 the moment it is released.

Thanks!

I burst out laughing when I saw some 'features' of W10 - see below snippet from the BBC News web site.
What bloody planet do bean bag squatting latte quaffing developers live on?

"Microsoft executive Joe Belfiore demonstrated how the software could be told to:
  • bring up Powerpoint presentation documents
  • locate photos taken during a specific month
  • dictate and send emails
  • tell the user whether or not the weather forecast indicates they should wear a coat later
  • show where their car is parked"

This begs the question: Do I need to leave my Windows Phone in the car for this to work? And another: Does this mean I have to buy a Windows Phone?

Cakewalk have been fast out of the blocks with compatability to Windows releases before. I don't see why not with the next windows release. I dare say they already have a win 10 test machine.

Thinking about it, there could be some added value services here that operators of professional studios could offer
their clients, so differentiating them from the competition:

"Before you guys leave, I should bundle up; there's going to be a cold front moving in soon."
"Oh, and in case the copious amounts of Jack Daniels you just consumed in the session is still working, your car is the tan one over on the right just as you go out."

I think you are missing the important part - that is what the voice assistant can do. Not the general feature set of Windows 10.

In retrospect..... The transition between W7>W8 was very smooth. The transition between W95 W98 was somewhat rocky since ASIO was being developed. The transition between W98>W-XP  was somewhat rocky since the core now was NT and it was 32bit instead of 16. And the transition W-XP W7 was rocky for some because of 32 bit > 64 bit. But Cakewalk was way way ahead as they had been developing 64 bit since 3 versions and offered both so customers would not suffer.... Because of hardware and driver issues Cakewalk has allways been upfront about what works and what not ...... And has warm relations with most hardware manufacturers.... So I'd say you'll be good. I do espect thunderbolt to be lowlevel integrated. Since Intel owns thunderbolt they do make hardware changes usually without notifying the multimedia community. But they now are working closely with Apple too. And half the multimedia community is on that platform too. So I have a very good feeling about W10.

But the proof is in the pudding so they say....

I have the Win 10 Pre-Release installed on a partition on my backup desktop.  I've installed X3 and my Roland Octa-Capture on there to see if it works.  X3, all that I've tested, works OK.  I'm going to install Platinum to see if it works too, probably sometime next week when I get some time.  But, if X3 works OK, I expect Platinum will work OK too with Win 10.
