  • Well it must be Monday Morning... Can't save CWB (Corrupted wavs)

Win10 Splat 2017 10

I have project file on my laptop,
I recoded on another system and created a CWB, moved it to my laptop, opened then saved and closed it.
I then opened the laptop project and imported 6 new wav file into this project from then other CWB project.
I can save and open this project and I can save it as a CWB but when I open it many Wav files are corrupted.
The new extracted project is missing audio on serval tracks and others tracks have turned from stereo to mono tracks.

Also it looks like with this update, my Audio files are not being saved within the relevant projects Audio directory! Where are they?
Are these issues related to the CWB problem?

Why are you using CWB?
Just use per project folders and copy the folders. CWB sometimes have caused issues resulting in threads like this one.

I just started using One Drive to share my folders between my DAW and my Laptop
Easy
Save the project
Then do "save as" and put it in one drive.
Now I can go open that file on my Laptop work on it, and then save it back to one drive.
If there is audio make sure you check the "copy audio with project' box when using "save as"

I use CWB because that's how "Sonar" packages Projects...
I use CWB because that's part of the features that I paid for as part of Sonar, That I've been using with Sonar for many years.

I don't want a work a round that turns a simple "save as" into a processes of "hunting and gathering". lol
I want SPlat to work as intended. i'e. "Creating a package of my project"

If there is a known bug perhaps it should be fixed...

CWB files have been known to have issues , very rare these day's but over time I've seen this  thread  topic appear where projects saved as a CWB became corrupted.  You wanted to know why your files became corrupted, I gave you my best guess.

Sorry but a folder is a package and what's so hard about using pre project folders? What so hard about copying a folder to a second drive or cloud storage?

Also your missing audio- check your file paths in preferences.
And are you checking the "copy Audio" option when saving?
If you don't audio can end up orphaned.

I don't know? why do you have your monitors in the corner of the room when everyone else knows that you get bass build up so your mix will always sound baseless? lol ;)
Why do you feel the need to ramble on about an issues when you clearly have no relevant contribution to make about a real BUG, a Real issue! All are silent! lol
All you offer is a work around that frankly wont work for me because I use layers of saves within one directory (and as you know one Audio directory per project) because SPalt is so unreliable that it's the safest way to deal with unforeseen issues like this CWB issues as only one of MANY problems! At least with the CWB (when it works 99.9%) is the safest way to archive and transfer my projects. I lost nothing! I just had to back up and find out where SPlat caused the problem. then move forward from there!
For me I would have to stop and create a new project dir at least 6 times a day!
I want this one thing to work so at least I can protect my work when all other thing SPlat FAIL! and they doooo hourly! lol

As it is now NO ONE from Cakewalk has said a word! No it all forum monitors have said a word!
We all now know this is a bug! and something that you admit has been ongoing!

peace!

if you have a repeatable recipe for a bug I'm fairly confident cakewalk will address it. Other than that bundle files work fine for me. I don't use them as much as I did in the past. But I do wonder what you did to screw it up? :-)

Well, I have CWB files opening here just fine, I actually opened one from a CD from 2002 just last night.

This being a peer to peer forum, I don't think you should expect Cakewalk to come here and address this "bug" you've found. There's lots of folks here that can help, we just need a little more info, perhaps some system specs for starters. I'm not clear on your statement "I then opened the laptop project and imported 6 new wav file into this project from then other CWB project."

Are the wave files actually corrupted, or is it just that Sonar cannot locate them now ?
If you're not using the "per project" folder feature, then the wave files should have gone into your generic "Audio Data" folder. The reason your system specs would help is that I'm wondering what type of drive you were saving the bundle files to, and how much memory your system has.

You have over 1000 posts! You know how this forum works! lol If Cakewalk thought I was wrong I would have heard from them here for all the world to see! OR at the least a Scook! Silence in this forum means they all know and have nothing helpful or relevant to say! lol Unlike you who posted as unreverent. You haven't even had this problem so you have no reference help to offer to resolve it!
If you read other posts you will see that this is a well known bug and has been for a long time!

It's a well know bug as you can see in the Cactus post!

I'm no expert on CWB as I have never needed to use them as I say I've always used containment folders since day one just like I do for all my documents and files.
I like the way someone described it to me back in the very begining of me using a PC.
Not creating folders is like tossing all your files in a filing cabinet in a big heap, good luck finding your files.
To expect any software to manage your files in a orderly manner ain't going to happen. It's up to you to file stuff where you want it so you can find it.

I see the concept of bundles but what scares me is the possiblty of data being screwed up because it is being compressed or??
I sort of like my Wave files kept unaltered. To me using a bundle is like coverting your audio to a MP3 or something.
I could be wrong but that was my understanding.
