OK I am new to this recording stuff but at a basic level it is not too bad. I have actually had luck with free Audacity so I decided a while back to get Sonar X1 Studio. This is a hobby to me and i never expect to anything else but I do expect a decent result at the least.
I have had problems with losing the complete track when i finish and close the program and not being able to open it when i start up again. Loss of tracks kinda thing. Loss of all that effort is madning to say the least.
The problem i am having now is with static noise tied to the audio tracks, both the bass and guitar and not the SI drum kit.
The static is not directly in the track at any specific place but just keeps turning up for a couple seconds every little bit as if almost timed. The strange thing is that even after the playback is over it still does it on the 2 audio tracks and you can see the sound level on the indicators for each track.
I really hope this is a dumb question but i am just winging it here.

Sounds like you may be using Amplitube (or Guitar Rig), but you haven't registered it with IK Multimedia yet.  Until it is registeres it does this.

The static could be from a demo or unregistered version of a plug-in. That's how they copy protect them.

How are you saving your files? They should be saved using the .CWP extension. If you save your work using a .MID extension, it won't save the audio because the CWP contains pointers to the audio which it saves in a separate file that Sonar creates.

You should also add a list of your computer hardware, version of Windows, and recording equipment in your signature. That will help us better answer your questions without a lot of back and forth trying to get that information.

Like I said "I hope this is a stupid question" and i guess it was. I should not have been so impatient to use the software and took the time to register Amplitude. I played with Audacity for a long time and when this came in the mail I was all wound up and just wanted to hook up. It was overwhelming and still is.
That is why it worked for a month I guess and then I just forgot. One problem fixed that was never a problem.
I will update my sig. Makes sense. I just signed up today. This forum will undoubtedly be a huge part of my learning process from now on as I really know little about this software and recording in general and am learning as I go but having fun doing it.
I am saving as a .CWP but may not have on the audio that I lost. Those files are gone now.
Thanks guys for a quick answer in solving this.

Sweet!!!!!!!

Not necessarily. Do a search on the file name and check your audio folders and you may find them.

Copy that. The audio (.wav) files are not deleted, they are just not associated with a project.
You can play them in WMP, maybe give them new, less cryptic names, and import them into a new project.

You might want to start using per-project folders. That will make the associations of WAV files to projects clearer. Per-Project folders also make copying and backup of projects much easier.

Yup. Every little audio clip is in an audio file as a wav. Tons of them.
All my cakewalk project files open and function perfectly. I have seperate folders for each track that have the cwp and a seperate audio folder with the wav files along with word files associated with the track and guitar pro files that I use for sheet music. I never really acknowledged the audio folder too much. The track in question seems to have a lot more than it should so it probably has the wav files for the original and the new track as i just made a new track and stuck it in the existing folder. I really don't know what happened. If it happens again I will look into it and ask for advice rather than just trashing it and starting over.  Overall I am happy now knowing that the static was not a software glitch and just my impatience especially after the loss of tracks thing.
I clearly know where to go now for problem solving. There is much to know.
