Just got the mail with the link to Brandon's blog discussing the improved smart grid feature, great, thanks!

I have two questions:

1. I often do not use snap, but I do still need the grid lines, and much finer lines than has been available so far. There is a trick, which brothers of this parish have taught me, but I always need to look it up (it really is an odd hack).

Is it now possible to have those finer lines directly, without the trick?

2. Typical pop/rock often is 4/4 time, but the actual beats themselves then break down into triplets, sort of 12/4 time. Is this scenario covered by the new smart grid? Again, I rarely snap. I just need the lines.

You can get grid resolution down to 128th triplet notes with no hacks  - all you have to do is set your snap to grid to 128th triplet notes, and in PRV, under view> grid resolution, select "Follow Snap settings"

This will provide snap accuracy to a 20 tick resolution or 30 ticks for non-triplets

No that doesn't work.

In PRV you can select View->Show Vertical Gridlines.

But Track view does not offer that. It's like PRV is a different program!

The hack has to do with creating a dummy track and enabling an obscure audiosnap setting. I don't want to have to do that in X2 anymore.

That is what I probably read into Brandon's blog entry. Oh, well.

Perhaps in the next version.
