I'm transitioning from a Mackie HDR24/96 to Sonar X1.   I have a project that was tracked to the Mackie but I would like to mix it in Sonar.  The problem is all the punch ins and any audio file that did not start a 0:00 time imports to 0:00.   
 
The only option I can think of is to render every single track and sub-tracks(layers, virtual tracks if you prefer) into a full length files, then transfer to Sonar.   The problem is that this will probably increase the file size 10 fold easily. 
 
Are there any other options or way for Sonar to reconginze the time alignment of these files?

If the Mackie is capable of creating broadcast WAV files, SONAR can import them at the proper timestamp. Just make sure to go to Edit > Preferences > File - Audio Data and select the Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp check box.

can you bounce the track in the Mackie or export it as a complete wave? 

Doing either should render the new track as ONE complete wave and eliminate the punch in points so that when you import it to Sonar or any other DAW, it comes in as one contiguous  wave, not a bunch of separate wave clips.

In collaborating with other people in a non platform specific way...

You export the two bar guitar part that happens at bar 97 as a wav file that start at 0:0. Then they drop it in the project and it's all set.

With hard drives as large as they are there should be no problem about file size. When you compress it with monkey audio it goes back to the two bar file size for sending it over the internet.

Plus you could highlight the two bars and bounce the track if you wanted to save space.
