I notice it takes a while to load X1 and a lot of that time is for plugins I don't use.

I found the properties/options for a plug like amplitude and unchecked enable, so it doesn't show up but it still takes time to load during start up.

I guess I have to move all the .dll's to another folder to hide it from the program. I could put them back if I want to use them someday.

Shouldn't that work?

Anyone done that?

Thanks

You could turn off the automatic VST scan.
Trimming the VST plugins folder(s) is not a bad idea but make sure that you scan VST folders after the trim (if you have already turned the autoscan off).

Does virus protection affect the time it takes to scan plugins in X1, like it does in Pro Tools? PT takes forever to start up due to scanning for plugins with virus protection turned on, but if you exclude your plugin folders from the antivirus program then it scans them almost immediately.
