For those of us who use the staff view, list the things that bother you about it.

Please do not start a argument about the SV. Just stick to the issues at hand.

The use of triplets is wierd. Why does it enter three notes and when you try and edit them, they go all haywire?

The stave itself. Why can't we lower it so notes with higher ledger lines can be seen. They're still there but you can't edit them unless you go to the PRV. So I guess we would like movable staves.

Again, if you don't have a contribution to make, please don't post.

I know Sonar is not a notation software per se. But I think it could improve on 3 things with regards to the SV that I can think of right now: - 1) Higher resolution - 64ths, 128ths 2) Note stems 3) Note rests For those of us who can read music as properly notated, points 2 and 3 can be quite a pain trying to figure out what's what. Edit: And I still haven't figured out how to put paragraphs in this forum. Sorry about the block of text.

1. As already mentioned, to handle triplets better (can't have rest in triplets currently).

2. To be able to compress the staff lines / bars during print out. I'm now exporting music xml to Notion 3, and the print out with Notion normally saves about 50% space. An average score printed with Notion is about 2 pages, while in X1, it's 3 to 4 pages.

3. To be able to edit the title, and author/copyright text area - the title is always printed as the project file name + "cwp". Minor, but handy feature.

Edit :

4. To handle swing - translate swing performance to eight notes view.

Seeing how this thread is developing into a reasonable list of suggestions, I'll add something I got from my experience with the staff view...

The lyric section needs work. It doesn't work smoothly as planned all the time and the font size should be adjustable. The current default font size is just too small for me.

Not being able to view multiple staves at the same time.   I know, that moves us toward a full blown notation feature.  (Are you going to collect these & forward to the feature request section?)

Ok   a couple of things....The lyric font size is adjustable and you can view multiple staves.

Things I would like that should be very easy.

1) Higher/more accurate note resolution.  (already mentioned) fixing this would satisfy 90% of complaints
2) Transposable Chords.  If I change key for a singer I have to re-input all the chords.
3) To be able to hide "Keyswitches".  Many of the advanced Orchestral libraries will allow keyswithches to change articulations.  This messes up a staff view.  If say, you are looking at a 1st violin on a treble clef and there are a bunch of notes at C0, D0, Eb1 ....it is a mess.
4) Should be way easier to add and subtract staves
5) ARTICULATIONS!  they don't even have to work (that would be nice),  just for printout.

Something that would be nice but not so important
6) nested rests on print out....so if notes start at measure 32 we can print out something that does not have 32 bars of nothing.
7) Take into account transposing instruments.  The ability to look at instruments in it's own key and staff is something a trained orchestrator can take advantage of.

aren't there some free scoring programs that we might could just rewire into sonar somehow and accomplish the integration you all crave?

I'v only been able to get notion3 to do this with one staff at a time.  64 bit seems to be the problem
