Ok   a couple of things....The lyric font size is adjustable.

I stand corrected, after a little digging I found you are right I can change the font size, but once I did, Sonar would not accept any more lyrics. It's definitely buggy and messed up. If you are going to make a score of any quality, you must be able to add lyrics easily and precisely, and be able to edit them at will.

aren't there some free scoring programs that we might could just rewire into sonar somehow and accomplish the integration you all crave?

Rewire is not a substitute for composing within a DAW.  If tried it and it is a clunky workflow killer.

I like it ! . . . finally . . . a useful thread about Staff View . . . actual ideas for improvement.

I'd like to add a pattern brush, or some sort of macro tool - - - > to automate inputting of multi note rhythmic patterns.
Maybe, the ability to drag / insert some preset macro rhythm patterns with preset velocity scalings.

I also agree the lyric tool needs to be far more flexible / intuitive for editing.

Seems a lot of Sonar users see no need for SV to be a better notation tool, it just needs to be improved as a  midi composition tool.

There are some great ideas for improvement here in this thread, hope they get some traction.

My first choices
- PRV-like navigation
- Selecting and moving/manipulating multiple notes (like the PRV)
- A clearer method for placing specific note durations; the Fill and Trim options work, but I still find it difficult to place shorter duration notes without affect other existing notes (if that makes sense)

Additional niceties
- Placing rests
- Expression symbols that link to cc messages (sustain, velocity, duration, etc)
- Stacatto symbol

list the things that bother you about it

Not being able to view multiple staves at the same time.   I know, that moves us toward a full blown notation feature.  (Are you going to collect these & forward to the feature request section?)
HeyDan

Under Tracks-Pick Tracks, enables multiple staves.. is this not the feature you're looking at ?

Tied triplets.

Snaps settings for SV - not global.

Develop drum maps to use keyswitching for  'articulations'.

Just get the traditional music 'symbols' back.

Please!

I often view several midi tracks together using SV and PRV side by side.  I would like the different staves in SV to be somehow identified by colour, reflecting the track/clip/note colours used in track view and PRV.

Graphic that don't strain the eye.
Better zoom.
Tuplets that work.
Intelligent grouping of notes that are readable by humans.

Chord boxes....at least be able to type in the chord ( A, Am, A7, B, Bm etc..) above the staff.
