I'm at my wits end here people. I'm trying to record some guitar using Guitar Rig. When I have the echo monitor on I get the dry sound first and then a few milliseconds later I get the Guitar Rigged sound. When I turn off echo monitoring all I get is the dry guitar sound. I'm using the Applied Research and Technologies USB Duel Tube Pre as an interface/sound card. I don't see anyway to mute the incoming sound from the interface without getting no sound at all. I've tried turning the buffers down but  I get drop outs and clicks and still the "echo". I'm using an ASIO driver which I downloaded from ASIOforall I've turned off the onboard sound card of course so that's not it either. I could always record the dry sound and apply the effects later but the whole point is to experiment with the sounds to get "the sound". PLEASE HELP!!! Any suggestions would really be appreciated. I'm going to get in touch with ART as well.

You have to mute the input signal with the AI's (audio interface) mixer. That will get rid of the dry sound.

To get rid of the latency you will have to use a lower latency setting. Go to "Preferences" by pressing the "p" key. In the audio setting look for the "ASIO Panel" button. Click that and set it to a lower latency. You may have to try different setting as AI's can react different. Obviously, you want to go as low as possible.

If it is as low as possible, then you need to free up resources. You can "freeze" tracks that use soft synths or have a few plug-ins already. The more you free up by freezing tracks, the better luck you'll have with GR.

yeah latency sucks..   anyways..   i keep hearing on the radio that guitarcenter does, "free music production clinics in the audio department."  might wanna stop by your local store if you are at, "your wits end."  because it sounds a lot like, "your software and hardware are working properly."

Anyways, Guitarpima has you taken care of, so I will just leave it at that..

cheers

Before you get carried away freezing everything in sight, try simply disabling all of your Fx plugs by hitting 'e'

Then re-enable just the bin containing GR - this has helped me out enormously in the past.

And...ASIO4ALL is not a real ASIO driver. If there are ASIO drivers for the ART by ART, that's what you should use.

Also...asking these technical questions you should always add you PC specs. You never know which detail is the crucial one, so giving the basic info in one go leads to quicker/better responses.

make sure there are NO FX running in any of your busses.

I have found whenever i need to monitor with super low latency this helps.
I noticed someone above said to disable all fx except the guitar plugin- that would be my next step.

Get rid of ASIO4ALL.

You must have Echo Input on to hear the effected signal. Sonar does not record the track with the effects, only the straight guitar sound. If you want to print the track with the effects on it, you have to use Bounce to Track.

Unfortunately the ART peramp doesn't come with a driver so they recommend using the allforone. I'll try to get a hold of them Monday as their support is not available during the weekend. Thanks for all the replies guys.

Thanks for the link SToons. I'm not really sure that any of that really help, however after resetting the defaults it seems to be working as intended. I guess I'll just have to go in and set everything before each new project. Bummer :(
