  • MIDI Tracks Won't Work - Reverts to Console

Loaded a file created in earlier version of Sonar. I routed the MIDI to an audio track. (MIDI track goes out to MIDI interface and appropriate port of MIDI interface comes back to VS-700 IO. Audio interface set to receive signal from proper output of IO.) Problem: I cannot hear the MIDI tracks and they do not meter on the audio track. Odd things is that the INPUT for the MIDI tracks was set to CONSOLE instead of the port of the MIDI interface. I click the input and change it to the correct port of the MIDI interface and it immediately goes back to CONSOLE. What the heck?

Why are you sending the MIDI to an audio track? Does it have a soft synth in it?

Also because the VS 700 uses MIDI to work with X1, don't you need to make sure you are sending MIDI to the built in synth and not just to the VS 700?

Maybe I didn't explain this well. This is an external synth. The MIDI in and out of the synth is connected to a MIDI interface that is connected to the PC via USB. The audio output of the synth goes to the VS-700 IO interface. There is a MIDI track in Sonar that controls the synth and this MIDI track has to be told which port of the MIDI interface to listen to. Then there is an audio track that receives the audio from the VS-700 IO. Now, suddenly, on the MIDI track I can no longer choose the MIDI interface and port. I select it, but it immediately reverts to CONSOLE.
