As of now, there are 243 messages in the Sonar X2 Notation discussion, so I'm starting a new thread on this subject.
 
No doubt the notation module needs improvement, but the biggest thing I wish Cake would do is let you write lead sheets with chord symbols and a single staff melody line, and then let this be translated into music played back rather than just to print out for musicians.
 
I do this with outside programs.  I use MuseScore, which is FREE, to type notation, save it as a MIDI file, export that into Jammer Pro, an inexpensive arranging program similar to Band In A Box, save that again as a MIDI file, export that into Sonar, and use Dim Pro, etc. to improve the MIDI instrument tracks, after which I can add a vocal.   
 
Would be so nice if I could do all this within Sonar.  Guess I'll have to dream a little bit longer.

I fully agree with you that Sonar's SV notation should be improved.

More than anything, I would like to see some improvement on note resolution and the notation itself being more properly displayed - sort of like the way a human being would notate music.

But this would be only for clarity while someone is editing; because as much as I agree with you and all the others, I'm aware that Sonar is not a notation software.

IMHO, I think we cannot expect Cakewalk to bake out a software that has full notation capabilities like Sibelius or Finale both of which are made for professional scoring (and even those 2 lack some features).

I find the PRV to be very efficient and intuitive but sometimes when I score for e.g. a 4-part harmony piece for French Horns off the top of my head, I would need to see the 4 parts notated in the SV because all those years of seeing counterpoint (in my mind's eye) written on a score sheet, doesn't allow my brain to translate it into a "Morse code"-like view like the PRV is with dots and dashed.

So I would ask Cakewalk to make the engine behind the SV a bit more sensible rather than incorporating a full-fledged notation program into Sonar.
