It should also be said that if you have access to Kontakt that the Kontakt version offers more than the Dimension Pro version. I got that from the guy who runs DigitalSoundfactory. I asked him if there was any differences and he said yes due to the limitations of DP there are minute ones when compared to Kontakt.

I got them when they first came out and use them all the time. I have a hardware 2000, and when I use one of its sounds (which I am very familiar with) in a project, I find it much quicker to substitute a dimpro track version than to record the hardware playing it back in real time.

In general, the samples sound like the original. I have only noticed one or two that are totally not matching. One thing that I find a little irritating is that all these dim pro patches have the same medium hall (or something) reverb added to them as an effect--whether the original proteus has reverb or not. I always shut it off, because I prefer to control the reverb for my projects in seperate busses, AFTER compression, etc.

That said, these patches in the main, sound like the hardware 2000 and are easy to use.

"They are the same software. The free one comes with less sounds neither runs in Sonar for me." Okay, well running as admin is the known fix (the fix goes back to Vista actually). I would get an error message trying to load any bank until I started running as admin both as a standalone or as a vst in Sonar.

I hadn't noticed the reverb settings.  Maybe that explains why I preferred the VX versions over the DimPro samples.
