I've been running update free of about 8 months, get an email that the year's updates are 60% off and figure "why not, sure none of the recent features are useful to me but what the heck."

Log into the site and it's still $199.

What's up with the bait and switch Cakewalk?

$499 - 60% = $199
They always count from the FULL price now, even for updates. They is why in price details you can see

After your first 12 months of free updates on your new purchase of SONAR, you can buy another 12 months of updates for at least 50% off the regular price of SONAR.

60% is more that 50%. Effectively, you "save" 10% compare to the regular update price.

Jacking the price up to $499 to give a 60% discount to the same price it's always been is ****.

Hi Gordon,
There is no attempt on our part to make you feel like this is a bait and switch. Sorry if something we did came off that way but here are the details.

SONAR Platinum is normally $499 and the renewal is normally 50% off at $250. We are currently running a deal to make the renewal price better than normal for Halloween till 11/1.

You may have seen that we ran a previous deal to get SONAR Platinum for $399 a while back. That was also a special deal for a limited time and is not the normal retail price.

Till 11/1 You'll be able to get 60% off SONAR renewals instead of the normal 50% off. I hope this helps answer any questions you had.

The exact verbiage in the offer is is "SAVE 60% OFF ANOTHER YEAR OF SONAR ROLLING UPDATES"

This is bait and switch - plain an simple.

A year of rolling updates is $250 - NOT $499.  60% off $250 would be $100, and what I'd be willing to pay.

Hi Gordon,

I understand how this can be confusing to see if you already know that another year of updates is 50% off. We'll try to be more straight forward in the future.

It could be is something killer was included, but there hasn't been anything in the releases since I've been "free-loading" that's worth paying for.   Ymmmv of course.

$100?   sure.  I'll throw down more than that on whiskey this weekend.

I think the LP EQ and the LP MB would easily go for that price with another company.

Man, I'm SO glad I got the lifetime updates now.  I wasn't sure then, but I am now.
