Is there a way to have a midi ride cymbal part not cut off each note as a new note occurs? I want the cymbal decay to continue so that it blends together more like a real cymbal sound.

Thanks.

What drum softsynth are you using? It doesn't cut off using Session Drummer 3. What are your soundcard and computer specs.

The sound doesn't cutoff within Sonar when using the TTS-1 plugin, Sessio Drummer 3, or Superior Drummer 2.

But when I save the file as a .midi file, exit Sonar, and double click on the file that is where I hear the cymbal being cut off. In this case the sound is being generated by the default Microsoft Windows 7 GM software synth.

I am using an RME Fireface 800 in Windows 7 x64 with Intel i7, 16 Gb of ram.

I was just hoping to have the drums sound good no matter what is being used for a sound source since that is how a client may listen to the midi file. (just by double clicking on it and therefore using the default windows midi sound generator.

Really?

I mean, really? They would just want to listen to Midi drums being played by the inbuilt MS Synth?

What's wrong with bouncing your midi down to audio and let them audition that, seeing as that's what's going to end up on the finished product, and not some Microsoft approximation of what it COULD sound like?

I am creating midis for a software program (learn  to play) that just plays midi files through a soundcard. Hopefully the end user would have a decent soundcard but you never know. The finished product in this case is a midi file.

Just talking to the software developer and they told me not to worry about it as the end user has the ability to select a soundsource other than the default Microsoft solution. Even though I am creating midi files I will use Bristol's suggestion and just send a wave file to the client to make sure they are not listening with the Microsoft S/W Synth.

Thanks for your input.

Cheers!
