SONAR X1d Producer Expanded
I am trying to control Guitar Rig 5 Pro as a plugin to an audio track. Running Guitar Rig standalone, I am able to use my MIDI foot controller (ART X-15) to control Guitar Rig. However, within SONAR, I can't. I can use the X-15 to control a MIDI (instrument) track, but not the Guitar Rig plugin on the audio track.
I see MIDI activity on the tray icon when I move controllers on the X-15.

What am I missing to control the audio plugin?

Thanks for any help.

I haven't tried this so I'm going on a hunch. Audio tracks do not seem to have a direct "MIDI In" so to speak, but audio tracks do accept MIDI input from a MIDI track. In theory (?) you should assign a MIDI track output to Guitar Rig, then set the MIDI track input to accept the X-15. This should allow the MIDI track to accept the X-15 input and send it to the audio track. Make sure you select the MIDI track before playing and that Input Echo is enabled.

Have you tried "MIDI-learn". I assume GR5 supports it. I don't have GR5 so I'm just guessing.

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Guitar Rig exposes itself as an input for MIDI. It's not in the list of selections for the MIDI track output. Maybe this should be a post in an NI forum.

Thanks, I have, but without positive response. It works only in Guitar Rig standalone mode.

Oh, and I've tried using the X-15 as a controller for a Z3TA+ instrument track and it works just fine, so this must be an issue with GR. Thanks for the help.

Ah... figured it out... I needed to set up the X-15 as an ACT control surface. Then learned the controls in ACT. Now it works!
