You could build kits for for SD3 or DimPro from just about any source. It's not that hard to do.

It's unneccessarily time-consuming in those VSTi's and all subsequent editing has to be done in an SFZ (text-based) file. Good idea but wrong plugins in my opinion.

Try uploading a video of how you do it in FL so we can see how you prefer to do it. What program can someone use for recording screen vids?

i watched your video as well, your wasting your time trying to use both.
sonar does the same thing as fl does.

set up your kit in session drummer.open the gui just like you had it opened in fl.
just drop the samples in the kit.
session drummer 3 is drag and drop just like fl is.
you can also audition your clips in the browser the same way,up/down keys audition material as well.
you can set it to repeat the audion or one shot it.
then simply open your step sequencer and do the same thing your doing in fl.

@SToons... Hi there. I forget the actual name of the screen vid software that most of these guys use but there are a bunch of threads pertaining to this. In fact Brandon of Cakewalk fame mentioned what he they use in one of the Webinar threads. FastBikerBoy can also help there I think. And OP did pretty much show what he's doing in FL in that vid. The only thing that was missing was how he sends it to Sonar but he said that's causing a crash. Cheers.

I use  http://camstudio.org/

You can set to record just a 'window' or a screen (if you use multi monitor) or just a region of the screen. I did run into some problem (hangs..) but after setting up it correctly (sorry.. can't remember now) it works fine.

For what it's worth. Session Drummer actually comes with a bunch of modern/dance/pop/techno kits as well

I wouldn't use SD3 because, if you're going to invest the time, pick something that allows more than 16 samples and allows subsequent editing of the samples. In any other decent sampler you have access to ADSR envelopes, filters, resonance, cutoff, fx, looping options etc. etc. Not trying to disagree here, just suggesting that any other sample player besides an SFZ-based player (SD2/3, Dropzone, Dimension etc) has so much more flexibility that there is no comparison.

Many do and from what I hear it is quite good. Haven't had a chance to check it out myself though.

There is a nook version, its only $27..  http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/sonar-x1-power-scott-r-garrigus/1111762650?ean=9781435458505

I read this book today...

Scott goes in depth..  organizing, previewing, arranging menus, and getting your workflow the way you want it, so that it suits your needs...

The windows nook application is totally free..  I downloaded it and had installed in like 30 seconds..  and depending on the size of your computer screen, and your ability to read..  the 500 page book is really a lot shorter than it seems..   I skipped a little..  surround sound, detailed info on cakewalk instruments and effect..  but I basically did the book in 1 measly day.  So I believe that, "the answers to your questions are very well laid out in that book."
