Hey guys, I have SONAR Home Studio 6 and wondering if its possible to use it for backing up my synthesizer memory via a MIDI dump?

I'm using a Yamaha PSR-GX76 and according to it's manual, a MIDI dump only sends the keyboard's settings to the sequencer.
What keyboard do you have and what format does it use for it's MIDI files?

Yes, via the Sysx view assuming your keyboard is able to dump its settings over MIDI.

Click on File-Receive
Select "You Start Dump on the Instrument"
Go to your instrument and initiate a dump.
Sonar will receive the dump and save it in a file.

That's what I needed.

Its a JP-8000 synthesizer. I'm not sure what format it uses for it's MIDI files.

Thanks so much for that information, daveny5! That was exactly what I was after. :)
