I am using a FF800 in ASIO

This afternoon, I got the following message from X1...

"No audio devices for the current driver model on your system.  Please go to Edit/Preferences/Audio/Playback and Recording and choose a different driver model."

I tried that and Playback and Recording only lists "none."  Windows can't find my FF800 either.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance, Tom.

I hope this is an appropriate for this issue.

The same happened to me with my FF400 a few months ago.  Try using system restore or a recovery file if you backup your hard drive.  If not, you may need to reinstall the driver for your FF, or install the latest driver that was released this summer.  Hope this helps.

This was a while ago, but I had problems with my Focusrite Liquid Mix wich is firewire, just as your FF 800. ..Windows just couldn't find the device at all..

I fixed it by changing the fire wire driver into something that ended with (Legacy)..
I can't remember exactly what the name was.. Unfortunatelly I can't check either since I'm not using Liquid mix any more.. But yeah.. something like that..
Host Controller (Legacy), or something..

I don't know if this will help you though, but you could try it anyway!
Hopefully it will solve your problem! :)

If it doesn't you can always switch back

First, check to make sure Windows sees it because if it doesn't, neither will Sonar. Check the Windows Device Manager. Firewire can sometimes be finicky.

Windows doesn't see it.  Where would you suggest I go from there?

Thanks

Unplug the fw cable and replug it. Sometimes that's all it takes. Otherwise, uninstall the device and reinstall it.

what you want to do first before anything major is unplug-replug it in.
open sonar, see if its taking or not,if not/open a project as normal.
unplug your device, replug your device.you should theoreticaly see a message stating your device has been removed or pluged in,select yes from this menu.
go into the preference menu, look under devices, you may need to recheck your device again, like you did when set up.

if this doesnt work, exit sonar, cold reebot(restart your computer)without your device pluged in.
once computer is up/plug in your device. open sonar.
look in preferences for your device.you should either see it there or wont need to go to preferences because your device is already to go.

..i don't want to nag, but the first thing you could do is to try and change the drivers to (legacy) ..

as I said in my first msg I had this problem with a firewire unit before and this was what fixed it. i searched lots of forums for help when i got this problem and changing to legacy was the answer i found the most. and it worked.

it's up to you though.. the easy way out may not always be the most exciting.. ;)
and again, if this doesn't work it's very easy to change back..

just google "change firewire driver to legacy" if you need help with it
i think it would be worth a try
