Glad you got the DAW back Robbie. Now you can try and make me look even more foolish. Sounds good at my end, nice cover song.

Peace and Blessings, John

"this sounds doggone good to me.  I like the wide mix that you have used on this.  I also think that your vocals were excellent.  You did all of the instrumentation --- so, indeed you are the Band!
Nice one Robbie!"

Thanks Freddy :-) Yeaup, I did play and sing and mix all of the parts, but you know what they say? Something about a bunch of monkeys in a room with typewriters? Getting geared back up for a few project, I own some people some vocals, but was sick, and now I'm just stalling... I'll get off my butt within the next few daze, and I'm going to do another one with the boy! :-) He's excited about that. I get him every other week or so and it throws a monkey wrench in to the studio wheelhouse. Lucky for me I don't have a girlfriend or I'd never finish anything! All you poor guys putting up with all of that "complaining..." People ask me if I'm in a long term committed relationship? And I say "no, I'm happy."

Thanks John, it's a tough job. But somebody's got to do it? :-)

ROBBBBBAAAAAAAAY!!!!

Absolutely PHENOMENAL, bro, I think this is definitely your best mix to date!

I listened two nights ago, but got called away before I had time to log in, and at that point, the bass was overpowering and the low mids seemed a little congested, but now it's a little more than 48 hours later and it's like night and day, you really knocked this one out!

Nice playing and super vocals and harmonies with very tasteful panning and good clarity.  Man, I really love the keys on this one, too.

This was always an old favorite of mine probably because it was on the first actual "adult" album that I ever owned.  I was eleven, and my sister was nine years older than me and gave it to me as a Christmas present and sitting on the living room floor with a little green "suitcase" record player, I was instantly hooked on the flowing harmonies of CSN.

Dynamite job, buddy, thanks for bringing back some warm memories!

Oh, yeah, PS: I'm glad you got your DAW back and that you're back in business again.

Have a good one!
Bob

Sounds really good here. I didn't really notice much of the 'loose-ness' other than the 'liveness'. Mix sounds really fine.  Your vocals coupled with your guitar and bass playing melds quite nicely (as always). Keys are well played and only offer occasional standouts which can be expected from sampled organs which sometimes add character and sometimes not (My only subtle comment from the listen, the sound quality of the Hammond is quite good, though).
..... Yeah, I just wish I could do something as good as this .......

I didn't know the original but like the song and also didn't hear your original (pre-remix) version but this sounds great.
Harmonies are gorgeous and it's quite refreshing to hear something being played for real.

I remixed it again, many thanks to those who commented (final mix I think) Lots of little changes... Too many to detail. But suffice it to say? I think I'm learning from the masters here on how to mix and put things in their place. It's a long slow process? And I'm not the best at it, but I'm not the worst either? And I'm getting better... :-)

-Bob, the fact that this was one of your favorites too? :-D It is on my top 10 list buddy... I really wanted to cover it in a way that if they (CSN) Listened? They would nod approvingly... I think I have a mix that they would bop along to :-) Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words. I'm trying to get better, and your comments really made me smile.

Tippity Tap! So nice to hear from you :-D Thanks for the kind words! I try not to make it "too tight?" I want it to have an organic feel? So there is "a live feel?" that I go for? And you were hearing it :-) I'm glad you were digging it man, I played everything? All of the guitars, drums, bass, keys, and vox.

Daryl, 10 years my junior? I'm glad you respect your elders sir!! ;-) (1958 here)

=============

No vocal editing btw? I sang all of the parts straight up.

My goal? Is that when you listen, you hang your head and bob along... And at some point say, "just damn! How did he do this?" :-)

Thanks John, rock on.. One of the greatest bands of all time! CSNY (AND ME!)

It's a tribute version to the original... Or at least as close as I can get it? But I'm doing everything, all of the guitars, bass, drums, keys, vocals, etc...

I do lots of originals too, but I love the music from the 60s/70s... It speaks to me.

Lots of little changes in this version. Panning, EQ, envelopes? Lots of little things... I'm working on trying to get "the mix..." in general terms?

It's tricky.. It's the hardest part for me personally?
I understand all of the components? I understand them well...

But putting it all together? Well that's the trick, isn't it? :-)

THAT is what I'm working on. I have a pretty good mix here? It's not bad? Maybe even pretty good? But THAT is the friggen trick! To get a pretty good mix? Present everything evenly... Tell a story... Some over here? Some over there... Some up the middle?

And in a song like this, "it all moves around..."

And then all of the EQ, and carve outs, etc... It's a science? And an art...

The trick is to get that CSN vocal feel :-) It's not easy? But that is the trick...

Well, I thought this tune sounds good. It's open, wide and I can hear everything very clearly. Good work.
You may reject away if you so desire. :)
