PS: Sorry to hear about your recent issues Bill. Payin' more than half of one's income to rent seems to be the new norm. Been paying over TWO thirds* for a looong time now. Blows ballbags.

Beeps my problem is after rent it only leaves me with $412 to pay bills, medical, gas, and groceries.  I live in a slum where crime is very bad. There is no maintenance worker at all so if something breaks, needs replacing, or is not working I have to fix it or not use it

Yeah, that's about where I'm at too, bud. However I'm in Canada so I don't have health insurance bills and I don't drive but that "extra" cash doesn't stretch quite as far either.
 
I sympathize. Just sayin' us pooro's are gettin' boinked pretty hard and it's difficult finding better accomodations for the same $$$. I hate my place but I'm terrified of moving in case things get worse... and there isn't anything much cheaper out there.
