Just wondering if this has been fixed yet in X1.  If you have a VST plug that has midi output and you have more than one instance going sending midi out then sonar will crash.  The supplied link talks about it some and I just reproduced it in Sonar 8.5.3 with xfer LFO Tool.

Any VST plug that sends midi out will do.  You can only have one at a time in 8.5.3.

Wondering if this is fixed in X1?

Can Cakewalk comment on this for x2?

My fingers are crossed!

Can you supply a recipe for a crash?
I have Xfer Lfo Tool set up as a synth and do this all the time in X1 with no problem. Typically z3ta2 with an instance of Lfo tool in the fx bin, then something like Alchemy with another instance. Different Lfo patterns, etc absolutely no crashes here. Are you setting lfO tool as an effect? If so, try setting up as a synth and load it via the fx bin.

The recipe for a crash is in the link in the original post.

Maybe this got fixed along the way in X1?

Also, be sure that lfo tool has "enable midi output" checked and that midi is actually coming out.

I don't think this has been fixed, I'll check in a couple of hours or so and post back.

Not sure I'm following this at all.

I run all of my projects with at least 2, 3, maybe 4 or more instances of Dim Pro and I never get a crash.

Is this what you are calling a "bug"?

Incidentally, I seldom feel the need to have the "enable Midi output" option checked.

Try switching it off and insert multiple instances of the same synth.

The whole point is you want to have enable midi output set so you can drive other vst's or midi hardware with the output.

Hi - I'll give this a try when I am back at my DAW - will be a few days though. I agree with your point as far as hardware is concerned. However if you are strictly/mostly using softsynths I recommend using LFO Tool as a synth in the fx rack for the softsynth being controlled. Never had a crash that way with multiple instances.

I have never had a crash either with lfo tool when the enable midi output is not set.

It's not just lfo tool.  It's any vst that sends midi output.

I really hope this will be fixed in x2.  It would be good to hear from cakewalk on it.
