@fooman

I read too many Fastbikerboy posts and now glued to his Youtube videos.  Plus I got promoted as the new CEO by forum users if you haven't already heard.

I'm always in track view. I couldn't wrap my head around using a mixer view that wasn't linked up to the track view the way I'd like it to be. It wasn't worth the Melodyne tie-in cause it slowed me down so much to work in a GUI I wasn't really enjoying.

That kind of mirrors my experience with S1.  The disconnect between the TV and CV works as designed, but I just don't care for it.  With that, plus the way the FX bins work and the nuances of the PRV, I just couldn't seem to get comfortable enough with it.  And as much as the interface looks really sharp much of it tends to be a bit small for my taste.

Now... The Melodyne ARA integration I like very much, and the Audio Bend feature works nicely too.  It has it's place in my toolbox, it's just more my adjustable metric wrench rather than my hammer and screwdriver.

Jimbo 88 is incorrect in regard to no scoring to pic. It certainly does this and can import various formats and in the latest round of new features there are extra SMPTE options with offsets etc. Video support may be in the Pro version only and not in Artist not sure etc..

As for staff view they have left it off and don't really care about it. (At the moment anyway) Rather it not be there at all than not very good or well implemented.

Artist is lacking in many features compared to the Pro version. Do not compare any version of Studio One to any DAW unless it is the full Pro version with all the updates.  Easiest program to update by far. No confusion with this.

I stand corrected...I don't think video support was available in the begining.

bUT...correct me if I'm wrong... I'm under the impression that Video support does not exsist in 64 bit.  So still a big NON starter.

For Windows I believe that is correct - no Quicktime 64.  And for whatever reason Presonus hasn't extended support for any other popular Windows types such as AVI.  I'm sure that will change eventually, but as it stands...

If Cake could add a mastering solution and a true wave editor to Sonar, that would do it for me.
I really do like how Studio One addresses that. The Melodyne integration is cool, but I feel Cake will do something even cooler in that regard.

I was hoping that Roland V-Vocal would be taken a farther!!!!!!!!   I think its awesome.  They definitely have the technology.  They should come with a solution that competes with the Vari-Audio in Cubase!  People rave about those tools.

I have seen so much praise for Vari-Audio in Cubase; "better than autotune, melodyne, anything you can imagine."

Meh - it's really well implemented but doesn't sound as good as Melodyne. Andit's buggy as hell! (Nuendo5.5.3.) ARA in Sonar would be much, much better as it is much much better in Studio One v2.

(calling Studio One v2 the new Pro Tools - sheesh! It'll never even come close)

I agree with Thatsastrat with regards to the Audio editor. That's where Nuendo excels above the rest IMO. Something like that in Sonar and I would get rid of Sound Forge.
