Roland needs to make a killer 24 track mixer that goes with Sonar. They should just do what Presonus did. Their 24 track board is simply awesome.

Well the thread does read, Sonar Vs Studio v2 and from my point of view, I would say Sonar wins hands down. It's been through so many upgrade cycles that it's a more mature and refined DAW. And soon a new version will be released with additional features that users have requested.

Gapless audio coming in Sonar X2.  Should be off the hook if it is truly gapless.

you mean "IF".

I finally downloaded and installed the Studio One V2 Demo...  Its so obvious what they ripped off...  Cockos Reaper... Studio One is definitely a more beautiful version of Reaper, with a simplified more logical workflow.  Justin Frankel must be going nuts!  Presonus could have just bought Reaper, re-did the gui, and fix its terrible workflow.  I've already uninstalled Studio One..  I've had Reaper for years and I can not stand Reaper.  So.. I'm highly unlikely to buy and use anything that reminds me so much of Reaper...

I can see why a lot of people are enjoying Studio One though.  It is beautiful, and the audio is gapless.  That is huge!  I do not discount that.

However..

Gapless Audio in Sonar X2..  Would be a game changer.  Sonar's feature list goes on for a very, very long time..  Sonar has pages, upon pages of things that can be listed as, "a feature."

Reaper, and Studio One, and a lot of the other newer daws, do not have a feature set that go on, "nearly forever," like Sonar, Cubase, Pro-Tools, Digital Performer, etc... etc..

For someone with just 368 Forum Posts you come across as very intelligent, knowledgeable and experienced in regards to software and hardware. I enjoy reading your post because they're very insightful. And for you to be using Sonar - it confirms that I made a wise choice too if someone like you is using it to make their music.

Another pointless thread, from a community that has so much knowledge, experience and expertise to share.... Shame.

I've been with CW since 1993 and after a year struggling with X1 left for S1V2. TBH I've not looked back. I still have X1 on my PC but only to transfer old projects if I need them.

Not looking to stir things up, but seriously, there is no best DAW. Whatever gets the job done for you is the best DAW.

Anyway, enough said, I'm back off to my true gapless audio and logical GUI to make some music (minus any automation issues and 10 year old audio bugs of course ;-) ).

I don't like the GUI in Studio One. I was demoing it and it reminds me of a clunky version of Cubase and not in a good way. I would very much so take Cubase over it. I hear nothing but great things about studio one however.

This is perhaps the most pointed post in the thread. So I would disagree with pointless?

It's never pointless (well I would say that)

Comparing products can be a good thing if you do your research then you can see where you are at interms of using something that is user friendly and consistency.

Also shows us where we stand, if there was a league table of DAWs it may read something like this:

Pro Tools

Cubase

Logic

Studio One

Ableton Live

Reason

Nuendo

Sonar

Garage Band

other etc.
