I was told (by customer support 5 months ago) to "Stay tuned and update is in the works". This was regarding all of the Screwed up features of X1 D. (fastbouncing timecode based plugins (antares, waves, gtr rig, etc., dragging midi fx, deleting clips with midi fx, nudging in multilane PRV, exporting reverb tails at the front of song mixes, transient detection of bounced clips, plugin delay compensation) I've tried to keep quiet except for helping those with problems, but after talking to customer support yesterday I'm pissed. I was given the impression yesterday that there wouldn't be any more updates. Apparently Cakewalk Lies!!! All of this time I've been 'Staying tuned' for an update that was NEVER in the works. You shouldn't have to have a paid upgrade to fix what was broken in X1d. I even reported to others with similar problems that Cake said to stay tuned. Well I'm calling you on it Cake ---- BULL****!!!

Dear Michael,

I took the liberty to read the correspondence you had with the technical support rep.

The tech was referring to a Melodyne Editor patch and linked you directly to Celemony's forum.

There is no reference to a X1e or any SONAR patch for that matter in the e-mail dated May 14.

A lot of people had the impression that there was going to be an X1e because forum members first brought it up and the fact that X1d didn't fix all of the bugs and even introduced new bugs. Cakewalk was pretty hum about X1 after X1d's release because we all know now that nothing further was in the works for X1. Should there have been some sort of bulletin or communication to let us know that X1d was the very last update for X1? Yes, I think there should have been because they did it for the last version. But, they most likely decided not to so more people can upgrade to X1 and be under an impression more updates will follow. This worked in their favor because they can keep promoting X1 and not worry about customers knowing that they ditched the program for a new version. 5 months after that last update, we get adverts and confirmation there will be a X2. By now, for me at least... X1e was created by forum members and Cakewalk never made mention or gave us any confirmation there will be an X1e.

skylightron: "I think a lot of us want those X1 bugs that were reported fixed for this very version and not for it to be fixed in just X2." Words! I still have problems with X1d. I think it's irresponsible not to create a more stable program before launching a new expensive upgrade especially when the the first versions of X1 were more or less catastrophes http://njnnetwork.com/201...-ready-for-prime-time/ I have used Sonar since version 1.2. If history reapts itself I will abandon Sonar and probably turn to Reaper or Cubase.

Let's get this straight, this was after over a month of correspondence over this issue regarding melodyne, antares, waves, gtr rig....All of which fastbounced properly in X1c and 8.53, then were UNABLE to be fastbounced in X1d. Very Clearly a Cakewalk issue. the issue the rep stumbled on was the melodyne memory resource leak, which he pointed out Wasn't the issue I was having. This issue I and Many others are having with fastbouncing is an X1 d issue. Also, when your Cakewalk tech support tells you in response to Tech support case of Cakewalk software causing troubles tell you to 'Stay tuned because it loos like an update is in the works', one can only assume the company that screwed it up to begin with is speaking of an update on Cakewalks end as the melolyne memory issue didn't affect me, but SOnar's timecode/tempo Problem introduced in X1d DOES and HAS since March. I've been calling and emailing since March. No fastbouncing makes this product run at half mast. Support the Professionals, Please!!! It's not even about the $. It's about Cakewalk taking responsibility for where they are coming up short and not delivering the full product as described and previously used. I absolutely whole heartedly support professionals who support each other, and business's that treat the customers with utmost respect and urgency to their needs. Take care of your customers and you'll most certainly get that back 10 fold. Show us you care. I always upgrade. Need to see more Action on your part, and I'll come through for you. Thanks for your response. --The Blogospherianman

X1's development came to an end in March. From April to the end of October (which is the very end of X1's life cycle) would be about 7 months. Cakewalk, if they wanted to could have released one more patch but they switched focus over to X2 after March. And the reality is... They don't care about X1 anymore from the development side of things. X1 is a finished and done project. There's about 2 months left in X1's life cycle before X2 is released. They still can if they wanted to - release one more patch whether it be a quick fix or a full update but I highly doubt that will happen.
