Guys I have messed up big time.

I have some how lost all the Midi drums for a track I am working on and have the band back in in 9 hours

I tried to revert but it was turned off in sonar yet I know I had it turned on.

I have all the audio in the project folder but I don't know if there is anyway I can find the Midi ?

I hope someone can help or I am screwed

Do you not have Sonar to keep x amount of backups whenever you save?

If you do, the backup versions won't be visible in the file dialog box because they end with .cwp~ (or something like that). Rename the file extension and then you can open the backup to extract your data.

Thanks for the reply I had it set for 4 but when I looked there was no number there. Its deleted my 12 tracks I had SSD4 running into and my drum bus when I imported a but of audio I tried to undo but nothing happened it has gone :(

It's possible that you could go back through the History and undelete those tracks and buss. However, you'd lose everything done after that point as well.

@Bmdaustin that would not be a problem as long as I got the midi back that way ? Would you be able to tell me how and if by doing that I would get the midi back ? Thank you so much

Go try your back up that is on another hard drive. you should be backing up onto a separate hard rive, so you should have the midi file on that drive.

No autosave?

Hi Norrie,

What do you mean, exactly, when you say that you have lost your MIDI tracks? Is it the MIDI clips on a track that appear to have been deleted? Or have the actual tracks gone missing? Could it be possible that you have accidentally "hidden" a track?

By the way, unlike Audio clips, that are saved in an external folder somewhere, MIDI information is stored "inside" your Sonar CWP project file. So there is no way of rescuing that, unless, as the other guys have said, you have had autosave set to on.

I wish I could help you Norrie, because I know you are still picking this up, but it may not be possibe...

Sorry for the Slow reply guys

I had not backed up by that point I had just finished the drums made all my tracks added my drum bus and then imported a track to use in the session. When I did this my 12 tracks from SSD4 vanished along with all the midi data I had.

Hitting undo would not bring it back the revert box had nothing in it although I usually have it set to 4 and my auto save was also siting blank that should not be the case.

My sonar has been giving me some strange errors recently and I think its time for a reinstall.

The guys I was recording were ok about it and we did the drums again at least it was only one session and all other sessions seem fine and I now have all my sessions backed on to 2 drives instead of one and I am exporting the midi as soon as I have created it and keeping a midi backup
