I use a notation program called Harmony Assistant. I use Garritan Personal Orchestra 4 which interfaces with Harmony Assistant by Midi Yoke. I cannot export an audio file in HA which uses the Garritan sounds. So I am going to have to import the Harmony Assistant file into Sonar X1, I am assuming as a MIDI file. Is there an easy way to do this. My scores have many staves and hence MIDI channels and I have tried to make a template in Sonar. Even doing so I still have to assign each track in Sonar to the correct output (Aria player which drives Garritan). Not a huge deal but I am wondering if there is an easy way to solve this problem. Really the only thing I am using Sonar for is to convert the MIDI file to an audio file-unless I have audio tracks in which case I use Sonars audio recording capability.

You should be able to route through a virtual midi port like midi yoke from one program to another to capture the midi, if that's what you want.

If you want the audio you can just record the sound the program makes in sonar right? Or you don't like the way the program controls the synths...

How would I record the sound the program makes in Sonar?

Does your interface have a loopback input?

Like WhatUhear in soundblaster.

If not, you can use a cable from output to input on your audio I/O, just don't monitor it or you get feedback.

Once you create a MIDI file simply open it in X1. Its a native format for Sonar and will open as a normal file type. No need to import.

And when it is in X1 use GPO within X1 to create the audio.

Make sure you save as a Type 1 MIDI file which will put each MIDI channel on a separate track.

Once I do that I simply insert the ARIA Player VST and assign all the MIDI outputs to ARIA.
