Mentions very little except you can delete them. A more thoughtful approach would be to cut unused maps and paste them in a backup folder (and zip them up if space is a concern) so they are there if needed but will not show up in the Drum Maps dropdown making scrolling a little easier. Frankly, I don't see hitting one key like P to be an issue/ dealbreaker.

it can come close, for me, to breaking the deal -  I don't like the keyboard in my workflow.  I have a wireless one, but resent hauling it around the room. The mouse fits in my pocket and can be tucked into all kind of places, but the keybd has to be set down somewhere. Then I forget it and have to go back over there and get it. It's not long before I get mad and don't feel all that musical anymore...

Or just delete the unused maps, whatever. I don't see the problem here. Between the two suggestions one should be workable. Until Sonar recognizes Psychic Ability you may have to do some actual work to set the program up the way you want it.

Yes I know what was put in thread 3, But personally I would still move what I did not want, that is just me I like a clean tidy shop, many many maps their will never get used some of them are ancient. I more so thought I would mention this PDF after all Sharke does say he is trying to:  Figuring out how to set up a drum map for the first time. So is that okay I point out this PDF in general that just so happens to also mention about my preferred method of removing drum maps or should I just not off bothered at all Stoons you decide.

Not my decision what you post here...who am I? Is it OK that I pointed out there there was "another way" to deal with unwanted drum maps by backing them up? Did I step on some sensitive toes? I really don't see what your issue is, sorry. The OP can do whatever they like with the information posted here, it's not a competition.

It may seem prudent to back up the maps you don't need which is what I used to do but after while it dawned on me that I would almost certainly never own most of the hardware/software that these maps pertain to and also, if I ever did need them I can just as easily install them from the disk so I got shot of the ones I backed up.
I just went in to the drum map folders and got rid of all the ones I don't (and never will) use. Much better.
BFD2 has 34 drum maps

A few things you may want to add (if you are keen to keep the documentation exhaustive) 

I have noticed that sometimes when working on a drum map, the preset field becomes blank. 

If this happens, I have found the easiest thing to do is:

 > click the name of the current drum map in the presets
 > Sonar asks "if you would like to load the map" > click no
 > The preset name then appears in the field, allowing user to click save and 'Overwrite' 

Also you mentioned that you can drag the note names in the drum map to reorder them. Actually, I have found that the mouse needs to be near the top and bottom boundaries of the name box (mouse icon changes to arrows) before they can be dragged. 

This pained me for a while. I kept trying to drag but it wasn't working. 

Might also be worth mentioning that the Drum Map manager can be quickly accessed via Right-clicking the note names and choosing 'Drum map manager' 

I for one would like them to redesign the whole Drum map manager section, it's not that it is broken but it could be a damn sight more friendly/intuitive. Frankly it is still stuck in the 90's (like me ;)

To me you came across as if you where trying to scorn my every attempt to help its was just my understanding of the wordings in your reply,so do forgive my misunderstanding, it did seem rather blunt, here in the UK the way you use frankly in such a sentence in this scenario, is like you where quite demeaning to my attempts to help.
So I thought nothing of it, And I merely  followed up with a normal reply that just happened to contain the saying with what ever floats your boat, here in the UK as a term that means in this case what ever you prefer, so I was only really agreeing , no big thing. But I was then a little taken back by your follow on about checking out thread 3, which come on SToons its not like their are pages of threads for me to miss this, so its seemed like you where being a bit sarcastic here, hence me feeling a bit awkward at only trying to help, so for all I know you could be a little troll on the quiet trying to provoke me, but maybe that's me just reading too much into it, So I will say once and presume this is a misunderstanding, I can be bigger than that, so my apologies for thinking you where being quite abrupt, But one thing! i don't have such malice in me to make this a stupid competition, I don't do that, I could not care less I was only pointing out some possible help one way of doing stuff etc., i presume its all a misunderstanding and miss judgement  on wording on both our parts, That why I love those stupid little smiley's, can we not just forget the kissing but make up.

Thanks for the info, Unfortunately  I have no access to the PDF it was done by another member, I had quite a longer original post Via the way of a thread, But my grammar etc. was not the best, Their is a few things Probably missed off the PDF as it was amended to be too the point as possible I did droll on a bit lol, and their are  a few ways to do certain things that where probably missed, so all help is good help to get these little details down, Much appreciated if it can be amended I will try and sort it, Just thought it would put some peeps in right direction was not really originally meant to be a PDF, I would not consider myself to me a great tutor lol just help when I can, After a while of doing drum maps you can pick up all the knitty gritty, But as we all know with drum maps when we first try, they are one hell off a ball ache, So again much appreciate the Info, I will have to try and dig out my old thread and see what is in it, and if this needs adding,and also link to that. I sometimes write quickly and abruptly because I don't feel like typing more than necessary. While I realize some see this forum as a social outlet, and that's fine, I tend to use it more to learn and share information and therefore may sometimes come across blunt. It was never my intention to be rude or dismissive.

In all fairness, a comment like "Hitting P etc is a new one on me, so what ever floats your boat Stoons" would suggest to me that, if it is new to you then you hadn't read the initial post, and could also be construed as dismissive as I see/saw little to suggest you were agreeing with anything; perhaps you should have stated that at the time. There was absolutely no acknowledgement of the fact this is a reasonable way to navigate the menu, particulary when the next thing posted starts "Yes I know what was put in thread 3, But personally I would still move what I did not want..." which again comes across as dismissive. My subsequent response was not intended to be rude nor judgemental - I responded matter-of-factly suggesting you reference my original post.

And on that note, that is exactly what I suggested...moving and not necessarily deleting. If others find a 100KB zip file takes up too much space or makes things untidy, so be it, but I find it easier to retrieve a file that way than to dig around for disks (which I typically do not have immediately at hand) and search for drum maps that are/were already right at hand, but, to use your wording, whatever floats your boat.

It's not hard to spot a troll...click on the posters name and read their last 50 posts. Seriously, does it look like I troll much?
 
Anyways, I also apologize, it was never my intent to seem like I was belittling or dismissing your advice, I have no doubt you were offering your opinion with the best of intentions.
