  • Great difficulty installing Tranzport and AlphaTrack on new Sonar 8.5.3 32bit installation

Hi, anyone else having this problem lately? I recently installed Sonar 8.5.3 32bit on a new p.c. running Windows 7 64bit but I'm finding it impossible to install my Tranzport and AlphaTrack even though I'm following all the recommendations online. As well as this, when I tried to do a complete uninstall so that I could start over, Windows would not allow me to delete the Hotkey at the end of the uninstall process. Strangely, the Tranzport is 'playing' some keys on a midi piano when it is set in the Options/Instruments/Output channel so there is some form of communication happening. I hope someone here can help me out as these two controllers are integral to my workflow.

Have you tried them using Sonar 8.5.3 64-bit? Why run Sonar at 32-bit if you have Windows 7 64-bit?

Hi daveny5, I decided to install sonar 32-bit as there are plugins already set up in a current project and I don't want to waste time tweaking things with bitbridge. I'm all ready to go except for the Tranzport and Alphatrack.

If you have an older Tranzport driver, you may need to update the driver for 64-bit compatibility. It's available here.

That's the driver I've been trying bitflipper but for some reason I can't manage to come to the bottom of the problem.

Sorry I can't be more help. I can only address the Tranzport (don't use the Alphatrack) plus I'm on a 32-bit system. I do recall that they had some difficulty with 64-bit support and then retired the product shortly afterward.

Is the Tranzport service (tranzportapplet.exe) running?

Thanks bitflipper. I don't know if it's running. All I know is that I can't delete it so I can do a full uninstall before trying again from scratch. Also, when attempt to delete FDG000C in Regedit, I get: "cannot delete FDG000C: Error while deleting key" even though I'm logged in as Administrator. Windows 7 is a pia. I'm setting up a new pc, all going great except for this problem. Makes me miss XP.

If you're not already aware, there is a "trick" to setting up the 32 bit drivers on 64 bit Windows. The Frontier website has the documentation. I don't know how to insert links in posts, but go to "frontierdesign.com/Support/Downloads/Alphatrack" and scroll down until you see "Sonar 32-Bit AlphaTrack plug-in". There is a parallel link and documentation for Tranzport. That is what I used to get both 32 and 64bit working fine in my recent conversion to Win 7 64bit. Don't forget to make sure that Alphatrack and Tranzport are physically unplugged when installing the drivers! Good luck, it's great once you get everything working.

This thread adds to my eternal 'hope' on the subject.  I've never gotten my AlphaTrack to work under W7 64bit.  It just hasn't been a big enough issue to spend anymore time on it.  I hope others have better results than I...

Hey all, managed to get them both working a few weeks ago but didn't get a chance to post until now. I did a complete uninstallation as advised by fireberd over on the hardware forum and then installed each unit very carefully and they've been working great since! Thanks for all your help!
