Hi, I am wondering if instead of using the piano roll I could use the step sequencer for all tracks. So far I am not able to do this, it is as if only one step sequencer will work or something like that. Perhaps I should use the matrix view instead? any info on how the step seq might work for multiple tracks?

You can do a lot with the step sequencer, more than most users realize. It's not just a drum machine. But it's meant for creating relatively short sequences, and can be used in conjunction with the matrix view to assemble those short sequences into a song. Check out Seth's videos, he's the master of the step sequencer.

Try the cakewalk channel, pacific.  It should be on youtube and a link at the top of the SONAR forum.

I've been experimenting with Step Sequencer. I would not recommend using it to totally replace PRV, to be honest. It is more suited to 1/2/4 bar repetitive sequences, and not all that useful for writing accompanying melody lines, in my opinion.

I've also been using it to create rhythm/drum sequences. Once I've settled on a basic pattern, I convert it to a straight MIDI track.

A good feature of the Step Sequencer is the ability to stretch out, in track view, the 1/2/4 bar sequence over many bars, and it looks a little bit like a groove clip.
