I haven't posted anything here in a long time.   I almost always repay crits and look forward to hearing your stuff. This is actually my 1st full song done in X3 and I'm really liking the changes.

I'm for sure going to have another go at mixing this so any help in that regard is appreciated. I doubt I'll change the basic song, but I'm always happy to hear what doesn't work for you. Any help appreciated. Thanks guys.

Wildflower Days

V1
I woke up in Memphis
On a fast freight train
Rode it to Paris
Got off in the rain

V2
Went inside a diner
Ordered coffee and pie
Sat down in a corner
Until my clothes were dry

Chorus
Texas couldn't hold me
So I moved on to Santa Fe
Then headed back to Colorado
For wildflower days

V3
Once I had a woman's love
But I let her slip away
Wandering fits me like a glove
Mine is a world of gray

Chorus
Texas couldn't hold me
So I moved on to Santa Fe
Then headed back to Colorado
For wildflower days

Very nice tune. Vocals are buried in the mix. if I turn up the volume there's way to much bass.  Flute  is nice but should have a rest sometimes, imho. Would be nice to have some acoustic guitar for a bit of sparkle and rhythmic interest.

Great song - I'll have another listen to the mix later - I only have crappy speakers here.

Well, to me the vocal was not buried, maybe be a bit louder for that, but I think the song is kind of sad.
Sounded okay to me.

Rikkie, Daryl and Spaceelf, Thanks for the help guys.  I'm gonna work on both the vocal and flute in the remix.  Right now I'm leaning towards replacing the flute choir in the chorus w/ OOs... hopefully some female OOs but I'm working on that.  Thanks for checking out the tune.

Nice clean and clear sound on the instrumentation. The vocals are quite low in the beginning and then come in a lot more clear as the song progresses, but still have a few uneven lowers here and there. This is why I don't try singing very often. But, overall, not a bad song at all, just a hard one to sing to. Nicely done though.

Nice tune Ian. Thanks.
I've had 'wildflower days' myself. It was a bar though:)
Also, did some Colorado-ing.
So, all in all, kind of nostalgic..

Something about the mix seems off to me. I cannot pinpoint it.

The opening lead instrument (floot?) seems to overpowering.

Voice feels a tad to dry and low in the mix to me.

Drums sound good.

Piano at ~2:05 is too loud.

Listening on Sennheiser HD600s.

Nice song, kind of dark. I like the mix all but the vocals, which are a bit low in the mix.

I like the song overall - on my laptop speakers the "flute" is a bit overpowering and the vocal sounds a bit low in the mix.

Some nice chord changes in there too :-D

Cheers,
Terry.
