Tedious...compared to what? Having your teeth cleaned?

Yeh, it's slow, but no worse than Native Access or the Toontrack Product Manager, and superior to updaters from 8Dio and Spitfire. I wouldn't want to use it daily, but I can live with it once a month.

Considering it takes me over an hour to download and install it, and then still have to install the actual music software; and that I can download and install Reaper in two minutes, I would have to say yes, I do find Command Center tedious.

That sounds like an internet connection problem, not a command center problem.
Downloading new Sonar updates takes about 20 minutes here and im on a slow connection (700kbps).
Installation takes less than 2 minutes and its done automatically through Command Center.

FYI- Reaper is like 30MB. Sonar is almost 20X times that size (almost 500MB).
So kind of an redundant example.

My gripe is opening command center and waiting 4 minutes for it to load my products.
the same products I've used for the last 3 years (except the newest sonar updates)

I don't see any way to improve on how it works (now).

I don't know the internal architecture of the program or of its communication with the mother ship.  However, in apps like this, typically the entire portfolio of products could be sent to home base as a single XML package, and the results returned in the same way.  That could conceivably make the refresh process only a few seconds because it would basically be a single network message each direction.

I never had this issue with CCC, works very fast for me. But my internet speed is about 120MBS.

I never use it. Much faster to download updates from your account and install manually. You can roll back if need be the same way. There is no difference at all as they are exactly the same install packages.

It was great thinking by Cakewalk to leave this option avaialable.

I'm OK with it, no major problems here.  Pretty speedy Internet service so that helps.

Your experience may vary, but i downloaded CC and loaded SPLAT on my new laptop in under 20 minutes including moving over old projects from desktop.

PS I know because my wife kept telling me to finish what I was doing..we were on our way out to a dinner party.

700? You call that slow? Mine is about 465. Yeah, maybe that's the problem...

Valid point about Reaper, it is small. Still, it's really gratifying to "update" so quickly. I did it last night, took me, well, two minutes. But then Reaper is unique in a lot of ways.

I wasn't aware of this. I'll certainly keep it in mind for future downloads.

Reaper is a great DAW. Just cant compare it to sonar. They are 2 different animals.
