  • If I upgrade from X1 studio to X1 Producer boxed will I have the option of getting X2 box?

I have decided after dealing with X1 downloads I would much rather have it in a box. It either takes 12 hours to download or eats up more hard drive space than I want to dealing with downloads. Its nice to keep a boxed copy of my DAW around with because of that. Ill pay extra for the boxed version if I have to.

I'm curious about this too. I like discs in hand just in case something stupid happens and epic downloads certainly are a pain. I see upgrade boxes for sale in the Cake store but I think they are empty. Not sure what good that is. Cheers.

The boxes are not empty. They contain the program discs. Jeff

We don't know exactly what CW is going to do about either a download or will it be DVDs only. However since 8.5 CW has offered both. X1 was available as a DL and on DVDs. I will assume it will be the same this time around too.

The DVDs cost an extra $20 and although I have been one that keeps saying to myself I will get them I haven't done so so far.

A boxed set is nice to have but I have already put all the DLs on DVDs myself.

@trevia and John... Good to know guys. I will definitely pick up the discs every time. Much easier in the event of a catastrophic failure. Cheers.

I guess a pertinent question as well is does Cakewalk use top quality discs when manufacturing? You know not cheapos that will degrade like a dollar store DVD?

I have CW disks going back to Pro Audio and they work just fine.

I think you misread what I was asking. The free upgrades are being offered as downloads only. I am asking if I can buy a box copy for my download upgrade.

I still have my sonar home studio disk from 2005 runs flawlessly.

I think trevia was replying to my question about the empty boxes and if the upgrade boxes contain the discs then that would cover your question as well. Upgrade, by the box, have the discs. Also thanks, John and xabiton for the input on the disc situation. I figured they would be quality but ya never know these day. Cheers.
