So here I am with this bigger project, running about 80 Tracks, something like 60 Audio and 20 vst.

I was praising Sonar how got and glitch free it worked till today. In the middle of a recording session, doing vocals,
the vsti´s stop to play.

Shut down > restart, nothing. Checking for Mute and Solo, nothing, no chance.

When inserting a new vsti, it plays but not the ones I inserted before, STTTRRRAANNGEE!! isn´t it???

Thanks god I´m saving versions like every day. So I went to the previous version, and viola all plays!

Somebody seen this before?

I´m running X1 in 32 bit mode and I´m a bit over 3 GB ram in usage now, so nothing dramatic..

Any ideas?

For now I´m inserting all the the vsti´s again and copying the midi data on the new tracks to keep on working, got my deadline next week and it´s slitely making me nervous..

Install/run the 64 bit version of SONAR.

That's a lot of tracks for 3GB. Did you try freezing some of them to reduce the load?

Thanks guys,

I have 6 GB installed and Sonar is only using 3 for that project, no to ne missunderstood.
So still plenty of Ram headroom.

@ peregrine: I´m waiting for UAD2 plugs to be finally in 64 bit, then I will jump over.

But this shouldn´t happen right??

Your UAD plugs should work fine in the 64 bit host. Mine certainly do. You'll need to
direct the 64 bit host to the folder where you have the UAD d link libraries.

Don't wait.  Just install the 64 bit host, then open the project there, play it back and hear what happens.

But then the UAD´s are bridged right?

No, because if you're using 32-bit Sonar, it can only use up to a little over 3GB. The benefit of using 64-bit Sonar is that you can use a lot more RAM.

My understanding is you can only access the full complement of RAM if you're running Sonar in 64 bit mode.

So... you'll need to start freezing whatever synths you've finished with. Freeze the SYNTH, not the TRACK

Watch your RAM usage fall

As I said, in this project I was using 3 GB.

When running X1 in 32 bit mode I can adress 4 GB, so there is 1 GB headroom..

What do you mean "in this project I was using 3 Gb???" Do you mean you go to BIOS and set RAM usage per project???
The absolute maximum in use in a 32 bit system is about 3,3 Gb. There is no such thing as "headroom" when you talk about RAM. THere's no way to measure (AFAIK) how much more RAM SONAR would use if there was something more to use.

A project with 80 tracks and 20 VSTs is not satisfied with 3 Gb of RAM, I guess.
