I would imagine that there will be an option to use them or have them integrated into a single track if that works better for for the user.

I hope so.   My only experience with lanes was watching someone else use them in Nuendo, and I really didn't care for what I saw TBH.   Then again, this is SONAR so anything's possible!

Keni,

I never thought that automation lanes would float my boat but one I started using them elsewhere, I found that they were darned handy to have.

I would imagine that there will be an option to use them or have them integrated into a single track if that works better for for the user.

Hi Dave...

I'm praying they thought so too...

I've worked with lanes before and tho I can get my work done, it's yet another style of work that slows me down.... How long have we had X1? 1.5 years? I'm still working way slower (overall) than I can in 8.5.3 just to have access to a few of the items I like in X1 (The PC and it's devices are wonderful for me)...

I'm not trying to argue what is better, only that it may be too many conventions being changed for me to like it anymore....

If it comes to a draw between PT and Sonar as their' operating methods become similar, Sonar will lose out in many cases due to the heavy use and acceptance of PT in the industry.... Something I have always fought...

...and now I find myself already nervous and ranting the first day of it's announcement.... I did NOT want to do so and was hoping X2 would concede some avenue of return to previous work-models along with their' "new direction"... After all the ranting and discussions I feel as if it may have been totally ignored...

Maybe when they release a little more realistic access to info I can relax, but right now.........?

I don't feel too good!

Just to confirm. Automation lanes are a choice and are merely an enhancement to SONAR's automation system You can use either whenever you want on a per track basis. It's totally flexible.

I think that many users will find automation lanes faster than hunting for the proper envelope and engaging the editing for it.  Once you've got your work done on a track, you hide the lanes and move on.

Luckily it appears we won't be forced into that.... I often WANT to see all envelops (or at least a set of them) at the same time yet I don't want to "waste" my very limited, precious screen real estate...

I may find times when the lanes are faster than discovery of envelope as it is in X1... But I'm hoping that issue was addressed as well........?

I've not used lanes before but I rather imagine they'll eat up screen real estate rather quickly. At least there's the new old way though. Hoping for a pop up on the ghosted data. Have I mentioned that before?

Still looks the same... no new color controls. Unless hidden in the 100+ new UI improvements.
Full screen mode should help.
Improved install experience... much needed.
I'm not going to get too excited about BREVERB yet or another amp sim.
MIDI/Audio sync enhancements sound interesting.
Matrix improvements might be nice... I haven't quite gotten the hang of the current i/f.
Producer line of FX Chains... is that like Presets?
Chinese version? Will it have a Moo Goo Gai Pan control?

Looking forward to it...

Was just having a conversation with a fellow engineer who is using PT.  For him to upgrade from the present version he is using (which I think is PT8 or 9) he has to purchase the whole new version which in essence makes his current version null & void.
Just yesterday we were having that conversation...

Bring X2 on and let us all keep making music :-)

I agree.

But I also think there are times when having them stacked is nice. The great thing is SONAR now offers both.

[Insert string of positively loaded swear words here]

That promo was a blast to my senses!!! That Looks AWESOME! I had to pause a bit to be able to read and study everything in the YouTube video - the new clip colours looks ace! Black backgrounds? It looks mean! UI enhancements is always promising, can't wait to see what they are. New PC stuff, always welcome. The automation lanes? Well, I don't really like working with them in Nuendo but if they are optional and we can choose between them- they might actually become a favourite feature. Speaking of, I'm really curious about automation modes. And all the other modes.

Yup - this awakes the fanboi in me!

But all the Expanded features listed as "new" or something, will Expanded still be an additional extra or will most of it be baked into the core program?
