The new snapping feature looks really nice. It was about time they addressed that feature!

Yes!! Very much, but not in promo video... I got my hopes up for the color editor..

I would imagine that there will be an option to use them or have them integrated into a single track if that works better for for the user.

I hope so.   My only experience with lanes was watching someone else use them in Nuendo, and I really didn't care for what I saw TBH.   Then again, this is SONAR so anything's possible!

Just to confirm. Automation lanes are a choice and are merely an enhancement to SONAR's automation system You can use either whenever you want on a per track basis. It's totally flexible.

I think that many users will find automation lanes faster than hunting for the proper envelope and engaging the editing for it.  Once you've got your work done on a track, you hide the lanes and move on.
I agree.

But I also think there are times when having them stacked is nice. The great thing is SONAR now offers both.

This is true.  In a competing product I have constructed a button widget that sits on the Tool bar and I can expose or hide the automation lanes with a single click or shortcut key.  I would think that the SONAR implementation would be similar or as easy as that.

The color table you see is part of the dev kit used to make the clips. It's on the factory side not on the user side. We thought you might like a peak at how we make the cake.

It's almost a relief to hear that.  Just one more thing I would be compelled to learn and play with instead of making music.

On the video there is a toggle button on the track pane to switch track envelope lanes on/off. The video is moving at a fast pace by that point, but the button is there.

I also like the bullet point on the website about an improved, low latency audio engine.

I've not used lanes before but I rather imagine they'll eat up screen real estate rather quickly. At least there's the new old way though. Hoping for a pop up on the ghosted data. Have I mentioned that before?

I would wish for a "Show/Hide Automation Lanes on Selected Tracks" command that I could assign it to a shortcut key or a button on my MCU.

This is by far the coolest marketing trailer for any software product ever. It's futuristic as it can get. It's 2012 but to the Cakemen it's 2112.

Under the "Deliver" icon here http://www.cakewalk.com/SONAR-X2/ one can read: "NEW! MusicXML export" and "Print Notation".  The MusicXML was already included in the X1 Expanded version.  I'm intrigued about the notation printing addition.  Have they finally upgraded the notation function of Sonar?  Fingers crossed.

I would buy this for the automation lanes alone!

Whose idea was the cyberpunk-inspired trailer? Can you hug that chummer for me?
