Greetings; Native Instruments is having a 50% off sale, through which it is possible to upgrade the Guitar Rig LE version that comes with Sonar to the full verions. Price tag is $49.50, which is not bad.

Check out this link.

Is the free Guitar Rig player worth the download and using it in Sonar? I don't play guitar, but I would like to have some useful guitar sounds to go with Sonar. Peace

The free guitar rig player is useless imo..  you will get more out IK multi-media amplitube 3, which also has a free version, and allows you to purchase a la carte from IK multi's custom shop...

Here's a screen shot of custom shop on my computer.....   this idea, this interface and technology are absolutely cool!!  Ik is kicking NI's butt here...

that said...  Guitar rig $49 is an excellent deal..   if that is what you want, go for.  guitar rig sounds really nice.  no doubt there.

Yup, just upgraded. Can't pass on that price! Looking forward to playing with this one over the weekend :)

I was actually almost happy with 4 LE as it was giving me better results than my Marshall amp as I'm mainly doing clean sounds these days. But having a lot more clean sounds to choose from is exciting. Woot woot. Hopefully there will be some nice crunchy distortion too that don't sound so old school. I don't like that generic distortion sound. I want something with a bit more low growl and a slightly more sparse top end. More open sounding. I know what I like, now just got to try and find it... I don't hear it that often...

Have both, but new to AmpliTube 3 (for $99). So far...and it has only been a few days, but I'm not liking AmpliTube that much. Not just the sound, but the way they setup the base version... some patches you don't have the components for. Not intuitive.

All the "add-ons" are a SCAM IMO. If I want to just toggle and look for sounds that I like and inspire me, GR5 wins.  Don't care how "cool" it may look and how many components I can buy. I'd rather pay a larger amount and have IT ALL at my disposal when I'm up @ 3am trying to find the right sound.

My verdict is not final, but so far that $99 isn't well spent.

I just can't decide between GR5 or BFD Eco - both are currently $49.  I really can't afford to do both right now...

I just grabbed Amplitube 3 for $99 last week and I love it. I don't even play guitar. I have the free guitar rig player and its good for general fx but if you are a guitarist I don't see why you wouldn't love either depending on your needs.

Well, one thing I noticed... the dynamics are better with GR. If you have a nice heavy preset, play with your volume knob and you will notice that AmpliTube does not have the dynamics Guitar Rig does at different places on the volume knob . Which is pretty big, because I usually play with the volume knob on 8.

I've been using guitar Rig and amplitude for years and find they both have their strengths. Wouldn't be without either of them. Just can't have enough virtual guitar doolickwys
