Mackie MCU / the old one. Uses midi not usb, no drivers required. Takes 2 minutes to set up and the controllers can be bought for 200 to 300 bucks used. IMO its the best deal for something with motorized faders.

I'm also using an older gen Mackie MCU for the exactly same reason - easy to find them used, cheap to buy, a breeze to setup, just plain works.

Wonder if it works with Win10 ?   I haven't seen them much online(only the pro version)... would love to get one...maybe I'm looking in the wrong places...ebay, craigslist, reverb.com

Using X-Touch here.  Waiting for someone to write a program that will simplify azslow3's config util to a WYSIWYG for dummies like me so I can program it more specifically.

Does what it does well.

I use a PreSonus Fader port at the desk and a Frontier Tranzport in the booth. Planning to upgrade to the PreSonus Faderport 16.

Let us know how it goes with the FaderPort 16!
I am also using the single channel FaderPort without issue.  Thanks AZSlow!

I found my MCU on Kijiji, paid $300 for it, and it came with a handful of replacement faders that the previous owner had ordered but not got around to installing (replacing the faders on the older MCU's is pretty easy).

I see the older MCUs for sale quite often on Kijiji, at least in my area (Toronto). And I'm using mine with Sonar Plat / Windows 10 Pro 64. The unit works flawlessly, and it even came with the full set of the stick-on overlays, including the one for Sonar.

Why doesn't the OP use the VS-700 until it dies?

Craig,

Thank you that is what I am going to do just keep the VS - 700 until it dies!!!  I like it, I know it's functionality like the back of my hand and it truly is a good SPLAT controller.

You know how sometimes you get the itch to get something new because, because, because???
My excuse is I am not really sure how to make those changes others have suggested in changing the driver code - but I a going to give it an honest try and see what happens.

If I can get it to work - the VS - 700 until it dies it is

Mackie MCU user until it dies !!

I love using it, although there are no more updates available for it, the MCU has worked well for me since I purchased it.  I only had to use some Hosa CAIG DeoxIT FaderLube on the faders one time and they stayed flying nice and smooth.

(Only use 1 use a small spritz of DeoxIT FaderLube on each fader channel and then move the faders back and forth several times to work the lube in.)
