  • How to get Cakewalk to Sponsor a Rock N Roll Camp?

One of my seasonal gigs is working for Camp Jams as the Audio Engineer. Camp Jams is a Rock N Roll camp for kids and they just purchased Power Chord Academy and merged the two together. This is a yearly camp every summer accross 12 major USA cities and hundreds of kids attend.

This year, Presonus was a sponsor. So I have to use Studio One will the Audio Box 18/18 and a Digimax ADAT. Presonus gave me a license for the full flagship product, and each attending camper the entry level version.

What I would like to do, is get Cakewalk to step in and be the sponsor instead of Presonus. This could benifit Cakewalk because we see hundreds of impressionable youth that are looking to start recording thier own stuff. I teach a recording class as a part of this as well, in addition to recording thier oringinal and cover songs.

I would like to feature SONAR X1 Producer Expanded as the core of everything we do at Camp Jams. I love SONAR and am a dedicated professional user.

How do I pursue this? Who do I contact? How do I explore the possibility of getting Cakewalk into the core program at Camp Jams?

Thank you for any help,
-Charles

Just ask them. Im sure if you call their sales department or technical service department, they can put you in contact with their promoton/advertising department.

Also, try to see if Roland is willing to sponsor in addition to Cakewalk. Be prepared with demographic info: how many campers, how are the campers distributed (what % are in the recording program, guitar program, etc), how the programs are structured.

Not that they are going to ask (often times you have to take the initiative, in order to convince them) but if they do, it can help gain their interest.

We just wrapped up the first week in San Francisco. Starting the second week tomorrow (for San Fran).

Most cities have finished up. I think Seattle finished up this week too.

I will contact customer service when they open on Monday.

Thanks

How did you get Presonus on board, or who got Presonus on board?
I would start there, then try to duplicate efforts.

I was not involved with getting Presonus on board. I have just gotten to the position where I now have influence. Up until now, I was just another one of the audio guys, but this summer I have been recognized as top engineer. Now people will actually listen to me...ha ha ha.

im guessing if they did it would be something like x1 essentials.
did they give you the premium studio one 2.1 version?

i had alot of problems with the audiobox distorting out on me,the levels are very hot and as you know with sonar, the interface controls the input level.
support told me to add a D.I.box between the audiobox and sonar.
i brought it back...lol
something to keep in mind if you start having this issue.

best of luck to you and the peeps at camp.rock on man.

peace.

Yeah, I did find the Audio Box to be quite sensitive with the gain controls. And yes, the students are all getting the Essential version or whatever the entry level version is. I received the full version of Studio One 2. But I would so much rather use Cakewalk/Roland stuff. I want an OctaCapture at each city with SONAR X1 as the core. And I want each student to receive the entry level version of SONAR so they can start their musical careers as Cakewalk/Roland users.

Best of luck Sylvan. Great cause. I hope Cake comes through for you. They should be very happy to have you on their side.
