I'm using Sonar Producer 8.5.3 with M-Audio 2626.  I have a midi cable hooked to the multi plug configuration that comes with M-Audio.  I've never had trouble with my midi keyboard before, but all of a sudden, no midi!

The lights don't blink in the bottom of the Sonar panel (the two red lights), and they did work before.  In Sonar, it shows that the M-audio is being recognized as the midi device.

I tried swapping the midi cable with a new one, but no luck.  Any tips on trouble shooting this?  Could it be the keyboard?  The software?

Thanks!!!

Well, after substituting a new midi cable with no luck, I'm going to borrow another keyboard tomorrow and see if that works.  If not, I'm stumped!

Hi daveny5,

Yes, firewire.

I'd start with that. Make sure Windows is recognizing the firewire connection to the device.
Reinstall the drivers for the device. Make sure you have the latest.
Check Options-MIDI Devices and make sure its selected as Input and Output and moved to the top.
Check the M-Audio Control Panel and make sure the MIDI settings are correct.

Thanks Dave, I'm going to look at it all today.  Is it possible for a firewire to become partially working?  The audio portion of it is connected and working.

Jack: M-Audio have absolutely horrible drivers! I would switch out the cables first and then look for a driver update on the M-Audio site and install it if there is one. If you have the latest, reinstall it. I think the install program removes the existing driver for you before reinstalling it. If all that fails (and I did this successfully) see if Windows will 'find new device' without an M-Audio driver. I have an M-Audio MIDI controller that works much better without their drivers!

Baloney! If you have the latest version of the drivers it should work fine.

If the lights aren't blinking then the computer is not receiving the MIDI signal from the 2626 or the keyboard.

You do have the MIDI IN plugged into the MIDI OUT and vice-versa, right?

Did you disconnect the MIDI multicable and reconnect it to the 2626?

Did you check the keyboard configuration to make sure its sending MIDI to the 2626?

Did you make any other changes to your computer from when this was working?

Hi Dave,

Still no luck.

Yes, Midi is plugged in properly.

I did disconnect the Midi Multi cable and reconnected it.

I haven't changed anything in the keyboard, but it looks correct when I go to it's menu.

No other changes to the computer.

I didn't have a chance to try another keyboard yet, so that'll be next.

I really appreciate the help!
