Ok, I'm new here and I've spent about 3 hours digging through the forum and still can't find the exact same problem (or fix).
I'll start with gear - I have 2 Presonus Firestudio projects linked together - never had any issues with this setup on my machine. I have Windows 7 on a BEAST of a machine (8 gigs RAM, Quad Core)
I really wanted to get a softamp package and for $50 Gearbox gold looked pretty good, but you have to use the DI as a dongle to make the software work, so I have the Toneport/Gearbox DI connected directly to my machine via USB. - and this works fine as well - I can use GEARBOX standalone and monitor with headphones (plugged into the DI) and all is well - when I do NOT want to use sonar or my Firestudio setup or my studio monitors.
Now, when I open up Sonar 8 and try to do ANYTHING - if the Line 6 USB is plugged in SONAR is forcing me to use the Line 6 drivers and interface - All my ASIO drivers are grayed out and cannot be selected, and in my ASIO panel, I only have the Toneport 1-2 or Toneport 3-4 options - nothing allowing me to use the Firestudio typical setup.
So if I have this Tonepoert plugged in, which I HAVE TO DO if I want to use the Gearbox plug in or software, I have to use headphones and the Toneport becomes my interface. This is bad. How do I record in a band situation? This is terrible actually. I cannot imagine this being the way the software was designed.
Any tips out there?
For instance, I want to have a guitarist walk in and record to previously recorded drum tracks... I want the drums nice and loud through my monitors which run through my Firestudio setup - I cannot figure out how to make this work.
Looking forward to some help. THANKS!
